Sarah Thompson 21 Posted January 12, 2018 I’m only 10 days post op and yesterday I had my first experience of dumping syndrome. It was awful, the stomach cramps, hot and cold, everything really took its tole on me.Today I’ve woken up and I’m feeling low and deflated like I’ve made a huge mistake. Everything was going so well in my recovery and now I feel like it’s all a mistake.I’m trying so hard to pick myself up but just feel like hiding away and crying. Had anyone else felt like this? GreenTealael 25,430 Posted January 12, 2018 (edited) Tons of people feel and felt this way, so don't give up. It kind ofblike buyers remorse. And depression is common after surgery. But It DOES get better and time is the key. Remind yourself constantly the reason you had surgery. Keep going and stay very close to your plan also try to figure out what triggers the reaction and steer clear of it. You can do this!!! SouthernGirl76 74 Posted January 12, 2018 I had dumping before my surgery and I know how you feel. Don’t think of it as a failure. It’s your body’s natural defense and it should not last. Since my surgery 6/12/17 I have had it 4 times and two of them it was my fault because I was asking for it. Just make a note of what causes it and try to steer clear or limit it. Good luck and don’t beat yourself up.
