3rd day post-op...feeling great during the day, still a little tired, only taking pain meds at night time, but I am still questioning why the liquid still hurts going down even when it's the littlest sip? Is this normal? Does everyone else have to drink 48 ounces in a day? I feel like it's way too much and hurts my stomach even more when I'm trying to make my goal of 48oz per the doctors orders...any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I called my surgeon's office and spoke to one of the nurses. They suggested it was my tummy telling me I was moving too fast whether it was eating too fast, eating too much at one bite, or eating too heavy of a food. I am going back to liquids for 24 hours to see if that settles things down any.
Good luck tomorrow Maggie. Let me know how you make out.

I read your post and was going to suggest just that! Hope it works for you. I am still on liquids but have also tried yogurt. If I take in too much at one time, even with liquid, I get the same sharp pain! Had surgery 1/17 so I think you are doing great for 4 days post op!

Take it slow and get in as much as you can. I would not push yourself too much if you are in any pain. I was not able to get in 48 oz in the first few days. Each day will get better!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
