Did your surgeon's office send you EMMI videos to watch? Did you watch those? Those will tell you all you need to know about possible side effects.

There are so many possible side effects. But the most important one? Getting super f**king healthy.

Sure, I can only eat Pork, chicken and seafood now, can barely eat vegetables, can't eat super rich foods without getting super sick. Let's see, I can only eat 1/4 a cut at a time, I can't guzzle Water, post surgery I had lots of issues. But most went away with healing.

You are asking a lot of us to tell you what all the side effects are, there are medical sites that can probably tell you more. But what you REALLY want to know is, did it work for most of us?

If you are dedicated to the process and committed to follow the protocol, you have a pretty high chance of being at your goal weight within 12-18 months of the surgery depending on how much you have to lose.

There's a long list, your surgeon probably has one they'll make you sign before surgery. Here's a decent online list from another practice. https://www.ALM.com/weight-loss-surgery-options/vertical-sleeve-gastrectomy/#thesideeffects .

Personally the largest side effect I've noticed is lack of appetite, weight loss, some mild mood swings and fatigue :-)

You probably want to ask about complications and complication rates at your specific practice as well, those should be enlightening and you can talk about your personal risk factors for them with the team since they know the situation and should have lots of experience.

My worst side effects have been uncontrollable belching (which eased after about 3 months post op) and Constipation. While they seem minor. The constipation is/was severe.

Ugh mine too, the belching is horrific, I’m not meeting my Water requirements during the week because I refuse to drink at work at the possibility that someone might hear me. That and the gurgling in the throat.

Does it completely go away?

Do you think the anxiety might be due to the blue d**k?

Depends on if you're a smurf or not, doesn't it?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
