Another surgery!!

Recommended Posts

I went to my surgeon today and he told me I have to have gallbladder surgery on a week!!! I am so upset but I knew this was a possibility. I’m scared of waking up from surgery being in pain from the gas like the sleeve surgery. Has anyone ever had their gallbladder out and how was your experience? I’m nervous this is only my second surgery. I would love to hear some of your experiences.

I had my gallbladder removed in 1980. I had a full insision accross my upper right side. I did great with healing in fact when I wasn't even out of surgery for a week and we moved from Nevada to Idaho. I had no problems with healing etc. Now they do the surgery laparoscopically so it really should be easier. I don't know if you have been having pain with yours but...for me it was a blessing when it was gone. Good Luck

I had my gallbladder removed and it wasn’t too bad but after the surgery be very careful to heal before lifting too much or you will get an umbilical hernia at the incision spot. This has happened to me twice now. Good luck hope all goes well!

I had my gallbladder removed laparoscopically about 15 years ago.

It was outpatient. I went in 7AM, had surgery at 9AM, was in recovery by 10AM, Dischaged at 1PM, and was home on my own couch, eating a turkey Subway sandwich....at 2PM.

Was a very easy surgery for me. Then again, so was my sleeve. Maybe healing rapidly is my super power. LOL:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
