Any February Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

I just got my surgery date. February 12th. It hadn’t felt real till now that it’s actually happening. I know it might sound weird but now the nerves are kicking in.

I had mine on 2/8. Congrats!

My surgery was yesterday morning. It was a long day waiting, check in at 7 am for a 1 pm surgery. I learned I have bad veins and the nurses couldn't get an IV line into me. The anesthesiologist had to do it using an ultrasound.

I woke up with a lot of gas pain and was miserable for a couple of hours. But once I was given the dilaudid I felt much better. There was an initial wave of nausea when it went into my IV, then it went away and so did the pain, and it made me sleep well.

The overnight nurse was wonderful, was attentive and had me up walking a couple of times. Then the shift change this morning, I'm not sure if they were understaffed, or what, but nothing went right, no pain mgmt, no Breakfast to get me started on liquids. Even though my Dr gave the ok to discharge at 7 am I didn't get to leave until 3pm, so that kinda sucked. My surgeon said the surgery went well, and took 40 minutes.

Been just resting since I've been home. Slow going on the Water and Protein Drink. Been keeping up with the Tylenol Codeine I eas prescribed, but learned that is a bad idea on an empty stomach. So I followed that up w a Zofran. Looking forward to being past the pain, and able to move easily and sleep on my side :(

Day 2 post op here ... I'm feeling remarkable good! Lots of energy and very little pain. I wasn't feel great all day yesterday, so I'm relieved I seem to be recovering quickly!

That’s sooo great to hear! I went back to school today can totally tell that my energy is down and I’m not as attentive as I usually am. I’m getting all my Protein in so I’m super happy about that!

So glad to hear you are having a great recovery. I am still in pain. Not so much gas more of the sutures. Getting up and around is very painful. I hope it gets better. I am suppose to go back to work next week. [emoji17]

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
