It's hormones. Lot of folks struggle with mood swings in the weeks after surgery. You're gonna be ok. It gets better. I'm always open to new buddies. I hope you feel better soon. This coming year you're gonna lose a lot of weight and your world will change for the better. You'll feel better. Give it some time.

I agree with the above. It's very normal to feel a little down at that stage after surgery. You've made some HUGE changes to your diet, and your body is going a little crazy. Hang in there - as you start to lose more weight and adjust to the changes, you'll start feeling better!! It's temporary. :)

Hi!

I was sleeved 12-19. We can be buddies! I also felt a bit blue right after surgery; all the changes right before the holiday was a bit much but I survived. I am feeling better now so I can tell you to hang in there. I too have my ups and down so I need to tell myself to hang in there as well. 😬

Remember your fat cells are releasing all kinds of goodies including hormones into your bloodstream. Remember how you cried when you were a teenager and thought no one understood you and everyone was mean? Welcome to your 2nd puberty. Things are gonna level out but it will take time. Advice from a wise old broad ME

Thank you. I’m 47. I thought peri-menopause was bad. I’m getting my period now (was irregular before). The irritability is awful, though, as it affects my 6 year old & I feel like I can’t control it. Ugh! Hope it ends soon.

My date was 12/5/17 and I’m starting to have mood swings as well. No real bad but out of nowhere. I’ve been on anxiety medicine but still seems to get irritable for no reason

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
