I was worried about the same thing. I’ve told people I’m scheduled for a medical procedure, that I’m fine but it’s personal. You don’t owe anyone an explanation. Sadly, there’s no way to avoid gossip. I’m scheduled for 1/17/18! Good luck to you.

I'd think of some really outrageous thing to tell them...like....my unborn twin is causing me to go into kidney failure because it's teeth and hair are infected and a specialist from Germany is coming to remove it and study it. LOLOLOL

Yes, I have demented humor.

You could tell them you have a large benign anal tumor that is not cancer, but is painful and will require you to eat a special diet. No one makes fun of a butt tumor. And while there will be a little gossip, most people will just feel bad about it and try not to say anything.

You could be a hero and say you're donating a kidney to a cousin.

You can say whatever you want to say. Or say nothing at all:)

I told most people I was having a lobotomy but a few times I got bored with that and said I was getting a boob job. Once people figured out that I was not going to provide any detailed information they backed off.

I’m a teacher and they’re nosy as f! I told my friends, but other than that, I just didn’t tell them beforehand. I don’t really care if anybody knows. Tell them it’s none of their damn business! (Lol! I wish, but know you’re not really gonna say that!)

I'm a teacher as well. Yes, they are extremely nosey. I got question after questions about my weight loss. I had been out a few months prior with another surgery. I just put it on complications of that surgery. Of course I didn't tell them what that surgery was either. So you know there were many rumors. I just sat back and laughed. I didn't think it was anyone's business so I still don't budge.

I just told people I was having weight loss surgery. Everyone I worked with was super supportive, especially since they realized I trusted them with this detail about my life. They appreciated that & showed it.

So today I finally sat down with my immediate supervisor and told him "So I'm going to be out for surgery
..." and he responded with "oh female problems?" I was caught off guard and totally amused so I shurgged my shoulders and said "ok" lol . I know he isn't supposed to ask and I know I don't owe anyone any explanations and I honestly don't mind people knowing... I just thought it was funny that he assumed it was "female problems"... haha!

Ever since I was a kakat kitten I've wanted a tail, preferably a fluffy Persian one. Maybe I'll tell my questioners I'm going to have my rump, reduced so they can implant it better? I expect people to tell me I'm too old for surgery, it might kill me-nope,it's gonna help me live and live, longer. This world is too, funny to abandon now, want to see what happens, next. Power to this pussycat!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
