Gagsy 62 Posted January 8, 2018 Hi there, just curious if anyone else has had this problem. The doctors have checked and they are happy that I'm not having a pulmonary embolism but it still quite frightens me. Any stories would be appreciated, good or bad. ThanksSent from my HTC 10 using BariatricPal mobile app 1 FluffyChix reacted to this
Mattymatt 491 Posted January 8, 2018 Are you still under the surgeon's care in the hospital?
Gagsy 62 Posted January 8, 2018 Yes I am. They tested my blood last night and have been happy with my breathing. Nothing points to anything else other than inner stomach lining bleeding which they suggested and we're not concerned aboutSent from my HTC 10 using BariatricPal mobile app 1 FluffyChix reacted to this
Mattymatt 491 Posted January 8, 2018 You're under care so I would try not to worry and leave it to the professionals. If they're unconcerned, I would say you need not be either. :-)
kakatlady612 1,053 Posted January 8, 2018 I'm sorry Gagsy but if it were me I'd still be scared; you're the first one I've heard of with this. Know they do load you up with blood thinners but I'd be afraid some things are coming loose inside.Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app 1 FluffyChix reacted to this

Sullie06 1,013 Posted January 9, 2018 I would just advocate for yourself. Have they done an endoscopy to see where the blood is for sure coming from? If you don't feel like "Oh well it's okay" is the answer demand further testing. I don't believe this is a normal side effect.

Khandir 11 Posted January 10, 2018 I had my surgery Dec 14th. I had a slightly similar issue. I was throwing up blood every time I tried to drink something or suck on ice. I was in the hospital for 5 days. It stared as fresh blood and on day 4 it was brown and kinda chunky like old blood. Then it stopped and I was able to keep liquids down. I was told that some times that can happen. My blood sugar rose super high, that I needed insulin. I was on meds for nausea, my lungs were choppy that I had to take breathing treatments. I had none of those issues prior to surgery. Thank goodness on the 5th day it was like everything went away. I’m sure you will be okay in a day or so. The good thing is you are at the hospital and can be monitored. 1 1 FluffyChix and Creekimp13 reacted to this
