Yeah I have been walking a lot, using gas x and a heating pad. So far the warm shower and heating pad seem to help the best. My pain meds don’t help much

Most of my gas was through burping! Didn’treally expect that. Thought it would come the other way! Lol.

Congratulations on getting to the other side! Mine went pretty smoothly yesterday but I agree, the gas was worst part. Feeling a little too god after pain meds I also ended up drinking too much broth and Water and now I know they mean by filling up your sleeve too fast! Very painful. I found walking while circling or flapping your arms helped the gas too.

Hang in there everybody it should keep getting better from here

The gas pain lasted about 2 weeks for me and I walked a ton (miles a day even in the hospital). The problem with it is that it's in your abdomen and chest, not in your digestive system so GasX won't help with that type of gas. I used a heating pad as well and that did help a little. Luckily the worst is over in a couple days and then the rest will slowly dissipate and you'll feel better and less swollen.

Glad everyone seems to be doing well. The first couple of weeks are tough, but it does get better and starting to see some weight loss helps with that (due to surgery fluids, swelling, etc you may not notice much of a change on the scale at first).

I'm so glad this has been noted many times. It's good to understand going in that results won't show for a bit and to not lose hope. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
