Ok, I was reading up on life after the gastric sleeve and read something that horrified me. I would love to know how many people have this issue and for how long. I work from home but have to go to a different location to administer state tests to my students, about three weeks after I am hoping to have the sleeve done.

I read several posts about sleeve patients having to wear adult diapers because they basically have no control of their loose stools, especially during the liquid phase. Is this really a common thing? Several posters wrote about waking up to diarrhea all over the bed, going while driving or just having daily accidents in their pants.

Please tell me this is not “the norm”.

I had the Sleeve and the DS which would cause more pooping. I personally have not had any issues. Some foods will make you go more than others some become more lactose intolerant. You could keep track as you reintroduce food and if it gives you the runs then try it again after a few weeks.

I had more of a loose stool in my second week post op, but nothing uncontrollable. It didn't last long and now my movements are normal just spaced out more.
Hope this helps!

I’ve had diarrhea since I came home from the hospital. But it isn’t explosive and I can control it [emoji5]

I didn’t have any problems on my pre-op diet. However, for about a week after surgery it was bad! I only had one accident where I didn’t make it to the bathroom and it was in the hospital. All I have to say is never trust a fart

Have had the loose poops on and off this past month....but have not had any problems avoiding accidents. Nothing out of the ordinary.

it's always wise not to completely trust a fart on a loose poo day. LOL 100% agree:) But as of yet, have not had something like this occur.

LoL y’all are too funny! When I read that some people resorted to full time adult diapers, that was almost too much for me. I feel 100 times better!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
