Help breaking a stall

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

Been stalled for A little while and need some suggestions to move past it. I'm 2 months Post OP and can still only eat about 700cal , 70g Protein daily, less than 50g carbs.

I completely understand the dynamics and have embraced my stall, but it's time to move on. Please only helpful comments from people who have experienced it and what worked.

Many thanks

I am 3 months out down 65 total it’s a crazy whirlwind, some weeks i will lose 5-7 pounds others zilch. Been stuck at zilch for 3 weeks straight. I worry that’s it! I’m not losing anymore, even though ideally I need to lose around 80 more.

I've never lost that much in a week...

My starting weight was 300 lbs so that may be why I was losing that much. I’ll be ok with just 1 pound a week as long as it keeps coming off. Here’s to getting past these stalls!

Hang tight you are still early out. I was one of the lucky ones I averaged 20#'s a month. But....I also couldn't eat much. I had strictures and couldn't hold down much food or even Water. It started right after my 3 or 4th week. I had my RNY in July and had my first endo in Nov. You are doing very well. Keep your yes on the prize and KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
