Girl/ guy, YESSSSS on the scale went up. My scale went up like 2-3 pounds and I was like, WTH lol
How do you GAIN weight after gastric sleeve and less than a month out, hilarious
If anyone could beat the odds of gastric sleeve working for them, it would be me. ROFL
I love it
Thanks so much
Thank you

I'll be 4 weeks out Tuesday and expect I'll be down 23-25 lbs. I lost the vast majority the first 2 weeks, now the scale is moving gain. They said around 15 lbs a month at first is typical (3-4 lbs per week) then it slows and can often be lumpy with no weight lost then a bunch coming off. I'm following the diet, though having more carbs than I'm suppossed too, but calories are 600-1,000 a day. I'm getting quite a bit of exercise as well.

Water weight can change so rapidly that it's tough to tell what's really going on in a given week. Measurements can help you see difference that the scale doesn't. In one of my flat weeks I re measured and had lost about 3" on my waist, chest, belly, and a bit less on my thigh and biceps.

My name is Jon and I'm 35. Had my surgery on 12/19. My doctor requested that I do the pre-op diet starting right after Thanksgiving since my BMI was so high. It was at 66. My weight was at 469. Got down to 427 before surgery. I'm at around 400 now and I've been lingering there for a few days. I don't know if that is a cause for concern or not. I'm on the soft foods portion of my post-op diet process.

All that matters is that by 6 months you’ll have lost over 100 pounds. And that’s just the beginning. Everyone on here is stressing way to early & not looking at the road ahead. Chillax man!

Thanks Seahawks Fan. Just didn't really expect a plateau this early in the game with the way I was shedding weight. Plus, I was really looking forward to the 300s. Lol.. My body feels better and stronger every day even when I don't lose weight. That's what is important.

I had my surgery two weeks ago and I have lost half a pound. :( I started out at 245 and was down to 221 before surgery. I am now at 220.5. I have been eating right but not losing much....

Im 5 weeks out tomorrow. I am 19 lbs down from surgery weight. Im 15 inches lost over all as well. Im thrilled with my loss. I only lost 12 lbs in my 6 months preop... so 19lbs in 5 weeks?! That's amazing to me.

I was at about 20# lost at the 3 week mark, and haven't moved since! A little up and down, but pretty much holding steady the last two weeks. I'm going to start running. Hopefully that will kickstart some weightloss.

It looks like you have less weight to lose than many others here. So, it may go a bit slower for you. One thing is for certain though. Stick to your eating plan and you WILL lose weight. There is no way that you won't. Patience, my friend :)

Thanks for the info! I had high blood pressure and diabetes which was getting really bad. Another friend of mine said don't look at the scale. So I will take both of your advice patience and no scale. :)

Thank you!

I had surgery December 19, 2017 and I lost a bunch of weight really quick. I hit 30 lbs off in 2 weeks and now I feel like its slowing to almost plateau in week 3. I am trying not to get discouraged but its hard
I left the hospital weighing 297 and now I am 267 and its week 3 for me

Can u see the weight loss I was sleeved 12/29/17 sw291
Cw275 after one week but I can’t see it

It varies depending on starting BMI, etc. I started my pre-op diet on December 15 at 229 (I am 5’3”). My weight on surgery day (1/2/18) was 209. Today’s weight is 202, so basically lost 27 by following my plan to a “t”. You may note that because I had actually gained weight prior to getting a definitive surgery date, my pre-op liquid diet lasted longer than 2 weeks and it was so tough, especially with Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

If you go by data gathered by doctors on their patients...actual weights taken by doctors at the one month check up (rather than what people report...people lie a LOT about their weight)....the average weight loss in the first month after sleeve is 18% of excess body weight.

Which means....if you have 100 pounds to lose on the day of surgery...you will probably lose 18 pounds in the first month.

If you have 50 pounds to lose on the day of surgery....you will probably lose about 9 in the first month.

If you have 200 pounds to lose...you could lose 36 pounds in the first month.

But yeah...according to hard data taken at doctor's visits......18% loss of excess body weight at the time of surgery....is average for the first month.

And of course individuals vary. Some lose a little more, some lose a little less. Other factors....surgical complications, slow healing, fast healing, menstrual cycle, adjusting to any alterations of maintenance meds, etc....can cause a bump in either direction.

Do not worry, my SW was near yours and I only lost 8lbs the first 2 weeks post-op. I’m 5 weeks post op now and 20lbs down, clothes are getting baggy.

As you start getting more active, you’ll notice it coming off more. I’ve just started at the gym again, and I feel great and energy is great.

Keep going and don’t compare yourself to others. We will get there and I’m a slow loser too.

Sleeved: 2/12/2017

SW: 209lbs/95kgs

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
