SpeechPath 0 Posted October 24, 2007 Just wanted to give an update on my surgery. I went to Tijuana, MX on October 18 for lap band surgery by Dr. Lopez and his staff. I had an excellent experience. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Anything I needed all I had to do was ask. Dr. lopez was very nice and also his co-worker Dr. Carmen Calleja. I am now home and have had no complications to date. i am eating a full liquid diet without difficulty. I am having a hard time judging how much to eat, but i am sure that will come with practice. I just wanted to let everyone know about my experience. I was a little hesitant about going to Mexico right before the surgery because of some things I read on this site, but I am definitely glad I went now! wannarunfree 0 Posted October 24, 2007 Hi ...did You use "beliteweight" to schedule everything for youi in Mexico? How would you rate them? I am trying to wrap my mind around all of this ...
SpeechPath 0 Posted October 24, 2007 I did use Belite. My patient facilitator was Ishi and she was supper sweet. i must have called her or emailed her a million times. While I was in the hospital, a belite represenative came and checked on me a few times. They did an excellent job.

SpeechPath 0 Posted October 24, 2007 I was scared of Mexico too. I went there also because my insurance did not pay for the band. Once I got there I felt more comfortable. I got better care there than I probably would have gotten in the states. The hospital was super nice and way advanced. I do things in radiology and my mom is a nurse so we were both checking everything out and were both supper impressed. Very clean nice hospital and staff. The only problem was the language barrier at times!
VegasGrace 1 Posted October 24, 2007 My sister came with me and thought I was crazy for going to Mexico, Tijuana no less. She's a nurse. She asked for coffee w/ milk and the lady said, cafe? leche? My sister was like, no...coffee w/ milk. Hahahahah She believed all those who said it was dangerous, terrible, etc. She was very impressed and is now making plans to go to have surgery.
