LoBMI VSGguy46 56 Posted January 6, 2018 I was sleeved in October, and the big picture is that I've done awesome. I'm already approaching a normal weight and no longer look like an obese person. That is good. However, one thing I've now noticed is that my tailbone hurts when sitting for a long time, such as while driving for more than a couple hours or when flying. I've assumed this was due to not having as much "padding" on the backside as I had before. Has anyone else experienced this? Does it go away over time or is this just a lifelong thing I'm going to have to deal with, growing older?Sleeved on 10/18/2017Male 46, 5'8"HW: 270, SW: 232, CW: 203, GW:

My very tall (formerly morbidly obese) son-in-law, WLS in mid July 2015, dropped from 208kg to 99kg ... a.k.a. 459 pounds to 218 pounds. When I saw him in December, 2017, he told me he was now hovering between 106kg & 113kg ... a.k.a. 234 & 249 pounds. His explanation was that without some of his former "padding" he was uncomfortable in bed and on chairs and in the cab of his excavation machine.
_Kate_ 2,224 Posted January 6, 2018 Mine hurt like hell when I lost the weight but I don’t really notice it now. Maybe I have just got used to it. Congratulations on the weight loss !
James Marusek 5,244 Posted January 6, 2018 The pain goes away over time. I am almost 5 years post-op RNY gastric bypass surgery. I found gel pillows help, especially when I am driving long distances.
walleyecrazy 120 Posted January 6, 2018 I too was sleeved in October and my tail bone hurts quite often when sitting for extended periods. I find myself shift around quite a bit more than I used to. I think it’s just a product of the loss of the excess “padding” that we are all used to having. I would think over time our bodies will adjust to it and get used to it. At least that’s what I’m hoping lol. Either way I’d take this little bit of discomfort over what I was before surgery any day. vamping 183 Posted January 8, 2018 I am 16 months out. Mine drove me nuts til somewhere around the year mark and now I don't notice it as much. Some days I don't have a problem at all.

Congratulations on the weight loss ! Same here. It was actually pretty miserable for a while. I have a desk job so it would murder me at times. Getting up and moving around helps, but it was a rough spell to deal with. At some point it just kind of stopped. I did start going to my chiropractor again around the 6 month mark to help get things back into place. Everything seemed a bit off in my back as the weight came off. That might have helped my pain eventually go away. It also depends on what/where I'm sitting. Our Jeep is miserable for me on long trips, but I can for a long time in our van. I did get one those special coccyx cushions and that helped out.

OneDollarBill 371 Posted January 8, 2018 Yup it happened to me as well. I have a desk job and I would have to get up and walk around every hour. Luckily we got new sit/stand desks so it made life easier. Then out of no where it stopped and I haven't experienced any discomfort in a long time now. etc. etc. etc. 440 Posted January 10, 2018 My tailbone would get sore, too. I've found that I have to sit either ramrod straight or fully reclined. I can't slouch in a chair anymore. And the way I keep my driver's seat (at about a 90 degree angle) weirds my wife out. But you find ways to cope.
