Has anybody eaten salads of any type at 3 months out? I am dying for a salad but am scared to try it.

I am going to be able to have salads starting Monday. My surgery was 12/02/17. Can’t wait.

I had a salad of greens, beets and feta with green goddess dressing 1 month out with no ill effects. My advice is the try new things on the weekend if you work just in case. Also take a small bite or two and see if you feel wonky. If not, enjoy!

Agreed, always try new things at home in case of dumping, gas, diarrhea or vomiting![emoji12]

I had salad at one month with no major ill effects. A little more gas than I'd like, so i'm gonna wait another two weeks before I try again. I can't wait to reintegrate them, either:)

I've been fine whenever I've eaten salads. Go slow and only eat a little bit until you see how it sits with you.

I had a salad at about 2 months out with no problems. Have a small amount, chew slowly and see how you go. You CAN make friends with salad!

I am 3.5 weeks out - I can have a small bit of cucumber, Tomato, spinach and feta salad. After my small falafel patty (protein first). Chew chew well.

I had salads at 2 months out with no problem. It was just a basic romaine lettuce one with maybe some carrots and bits of turkey and bacon. I started with little bits at a time and ate it with dressing so it went down better.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
