What are some of the things you've noticed?

Recommended Posts

I have been fat since I was about 10, and I just had my band done in Aug., at age 40.

I have noticed some very nice, and sometimes funny things about loosing weight. I would love to hear from others, about things they have noticed, and liked, or even didn't like.

For example; my wedding rings are getting very loose... my granny undies stick up 3 inches over the waist of my pants.... I had to move the seat up in my car so I could reach the gas pedle.....

Mostly I would like to hear what else to expect.

Thank you for sharing, your thoughts!

I am down about 50 lbs and I have too many to list but I will give you a few.

Going to my closet and having nothing to wear because everything is too big instead of too small!

Noticing that I run up the stairs....multiple times in a row, and not gasping for air!

Entering a meeting in a function room and not thinking everyone is looking at how fat I am.....they are just looking to see who entered.

Looking at a plate of food (turkey club) and thinking OMG I cannot believe that I used to eat like that!!

Bending to tie my shoes and not worried that I cannot breathe!

Crossing my legs....that feels so good!

To be continued.................

I loved all the things you noticed. Some of them I hadn't thought of. I did particularly relate to, the walking in the room one. When I finished laughing at the nothing to wear one, I realized how true it was. (happy, giddy type, ain't it great, kind of laugh)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
