4 Months and Down 80 pounds

Recommended Posts

Here’s my thing, I still look huge.
So, I must have looked awful at my heaviest.

You have done amazingly well!! Focus on how well you’ve done! I said the exact same thing the other day, I looked at myself and still saw a fat girl and then freaked out. If I am still big 50+ lbs down, I must’ve been HUGE before...and then I felt bad all day long. I am trying so hard to focus on the big win, the hard work we have put in and the results we are getting. You are doing so well! And you know what, even when we were bigger, we were still good, kind people with families and people that love us no matter what. That hasn’t changed! :)

Excellent point. I am a good man, a kind man, a good dad and a good husband. I am loved by my friends and family. I am doing the best I can, one day at a time. Thanks Allie

You're making awesome progress man. I know exactly how you feel. Despite losing over 100lbs there are times where I still feel "blobby". It's mainly due to feeling like I have the same shape...just less of it...lol. I look back at photos from a year ago and can't get over the difference in my face. While I may not feel like it's been a huge change I have run into old friends that didn't recognize me at first. That's when it sinks in a bit more that I really do look different even if I don't feel like it some days.

And remember in the end our outside is going to change. It's inside that still matters most. You're doing great. Don't take that away from yourself! I know it's frustrating to look back on those old pictures of ourselves but let it serve as motivation to stay the course. Keep up the good work!

I had hit a pretty bad stall, but it finally broke. I am now down 90 pounds total. If I could just get motivated to excercise, I could drop more weight and faster.

90lbs! Man, that is a Great Dane dog you are no longer carrying around.

As for exercise - go on, just start. 5 mins, just start with that. I am not an exercise person, but as I get lighter I find I kind of like it!!

Thank you my friend. I have been wanting to get moving again and feeling some slight motivation. Like you said, even if I could just start with walking for like 10-15 mins I am sure it would make a difference.

I am thinking the same thing. When you need to lose 200 pounds, the first 100 might not be that noticeable. I suffer from Major Depressive Disorder and have been unable to to get motivated to do anything. With some recent medication changes and weight coming off, I am actually feeling semi motivated to go to the gym again.

I am Bi-polar, so I completely understand the no motivation part! Yes, because I think the way the weight shifts, like the top of my belly sticks out further than my butt in the front! (Lol, I swear it does! My belly button is lost and the saggy skin.. eww)
I can definitely see the difference in your face ! You can see it. I know it doesnt seem it, but congrats! You are doing a great job!

Thank you. When I look at the new collage I posted, the starting weight to current is amazing. Even the change from the January 3rd picture to current is pretty noticeable.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
