I don't know if anyone else has had this happen, but I feel like I get hungry sometimes. I know we are supposed to, but I think I was getting used to not feeling hunger at all in the first month or so. I am eight weeks out, on Stage IV. I can't eat much in the way of solids without getting full really fast. But then I feel hungry later. I'm trying to keep Water and food seperated, chewing 20 times, taking my time with eating - any other suggestions? Maybe I thought the 'no hunger' phase would last longer and it's disappointing. But then if I try to eat more, I can't. Anyone else?

You are in real food stage ...right?

You will feel hunger at times. there are some thing to try to manage it.

Are you eating three small meals and two Snacks throughout the day? Are you able to eat veggies with your Protein yet? What does a day of food look like for you?

I try really hard to fit my food into my hunger schedule so in the AM think 6-7 I am not hungry so I drink a shake and take my meds by about 9 I am hungry so that is when I eat my Breakfast usually an egg then around 12 I start getting hungry so I have a snack then I don't get hungry again until 4 so I eat another snack and have dinner around 8 I know I know the times are funky but this is my life schedule with 3 kids in sports, and a job this is what works for me take a deep breath and find the times that work for you

In general, (I'm pre-op), I know I had too many carbs at the previous meal if I get hungry before my next meal. I know with surgery that may also have to do with the lack of volume at each meal.

Do you eat 3 meals and 2-3 Snacks each day? Do you focus on Protein first, then veg, then if room: low glycemic fruit/whole grains? Are you eating crap? (you know...like you were pre-surg, only in smaller portions? do you eat a lot of slider foods: crackers, chips, Cookies, etc) Do you drink with meals or too soon post-meal?

I remember when the hunger pains came back for me. I thought it would be much longer before I felt them. I was told I would have about 12 to 18 months to lose “the weight” but for myself, the biggest weight loss was the first 6 months, after that it was very slow!!! Try to eat as much Protein as possible. And never drink with your food. If you follow the rules, you will do this!

much success to you!

My hunger came back when I was 2 months post op but the way I manage it is I eat foods that I know are filling.

For example, I have a piece of thin cut chicken breast that I made with some sort of sauce then eat it with raw kale-- BAM! Super filling meal right there.

Another one is shrimp with a few pieces of broccoli.

It depends on what you can tolerate and what you're able to eat at this point in time. I usually have two or three small meals a day, depending on the time of week and I always have them at certain times of the day. Between meals, I just drink my Water.< br>

I appreciate all the suggestions. It helps to know others have been through this and are doing well.

Do you mind sharing your daily Protein intake? I'm nearly to 2 months, and just released to start trying veggies. I'm always curious to see how people balance their macros.

On days I'm not Physically active, it's around 50-60 grams. On days I am active, it's usually 70 grams or more but I'm going on 9 months post op. 🙂

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
