Am I going to freeze ?

Recommended Posts

I'm pre surg and already driving my family crazy complaining I'm cold. Doesn't help I live in the Midwest but my usual outfit now is a sweatsuit, will I be wearing thermal undies once I lose more insulating fat? I'm widowed so I don't have a snuggly hubby to curl up with maybe I should invest in an electric blanket? Help!

I live in Florida. Now that I have lost over 277 pounds when it gets cold here I feel just as cold as I did when I lived in Michigan. I never thought I would say I am cold in South East Florida but I am. I have on an electric fireplace in my room, while my room mate has 2 fans on in his. When the house temp drops down to 72 I have the heat on. CRAZY! I would say you should invest in an electric blanket. Good luck with your pre-op diet and surgery.

This winter hasn't been as bad, but last winter was terrible for me. I still get cold way more than I ever had before and yes, it's because most of my insulation is gone now. Almost always had a blanket on my when I was at home. Hell I remember sitting in the living room in a sweatshirt and having my hood up! lol

Something to look forward to... I started experiencing 'personal summers' (aka hot flashes) a little over a year ago, and my poor husband has often is shivering at night while I have the fan running to keep things bearable for me. :)

Yes. We will both freeze. We will both die in our chairs, shriveled, wrinkly, protein-prune-pops! I have a hoodie huge robe in grey fleece. Mr. F. calls me Yoda cuz I always wear it over my clothes, zipped, and the hood up. It's a lot like a monk's cowl.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
