Proof of diet attempts?

Recommended Posts

I’m concerned getting insurance approval because I’ve never attempted a diet program under a doctor or nutritionist. I have done multiple diets over the years but I have no proof! I had WW membership 8 years ago but no documents and only a handwritten journal from 2 years ago. How much proof of previous diet attempts do companies need? Is this going to be a denial point for me or am I worrying for nothing ?

Hi, how are you? Depending on your insurance it most likely won’t be a problem. Most insurance companies require a consecutive between 3 and 6 month physician supervised diet(with your PCP)my surgeon’s office gave me all of the paperwork that I needed to have filled out, so I literally just take it with me to my appointments and have it filled out.

Thanks, I’m just getting started with the whole process! I’ve signed up for a seminar the surgeon does monthly and made an appointment with my PCP.

I hadn't done medically supervised weight loss, either. On my intake form they asked which diets I'd tried and for how long, so I just listed them and it wasn't a problem. I completed the 6-month diet visits required by my insurance and got approved with no issue. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
