When were you able to eat cereals and what kinds do you eat?

I followed a moderately low-carb plan (not ultra-low, like some people do), so I didn't eat Cereal at all during the weight loss phase. I do now that I'm in maintenance, but not a bowl of it. I'll put 2-4 T of Kashi granola or some kind of high Fiber cereal on my yogurt to give it some crunch.

p.s. if you are carb sensitive (and I am NOT - but lots of people are), I would stay away from cereal. At least while you're in the weight loss phase.

at one month out, you should be focusing on Protein and maybe some cooked vegetables

I was allowed to eat cereal as early as my soft phase, but I've never been interested in doing so. Maybe if you found a legitimately healthy cereal high in fiber and super low in sugar then added Protein Powder to the milk it might be relatively decent.

But odds are any healthy cereal is going to be absolutely disgusting as it won't have any sugar in it (and you probably won't want to add anything sweet like fruit because they're already high in carbs)

The healthiest cereals I can think of is the Ezekiel Sprouted grain stuff which has 0 sugar and a decent amount of fiber and Protein, but it's still relatively high in carbs (and probably taste terrible with no sugar)

At my close to 10th month I haven’t had cereal.. but I guess you can after 2nd month you can eat anything you want in portions.. I would suggest high Protein cereal.. and of course low in sugar

I eat cereal about once a week. I will either eat some sort of grain based cereals or homemade cream of wheat. I don't eat super low carb.

My favorite cereal is the Kashi whole wheat biscuits. They have a lot of fiber and Protein - they are lightly sweetened so keep that in mind. (My favorite flavors are the cinnamon harvest and the autumn wheat.) I'm pre-op so I'm not sure when I'll be able to eat them after surgery, but the wheat soaks up a lot of the milk and they get quite soft and mushy so I am thinking I might be able to swing them in the soft food phase.

Whole wheat has protein, plus you can sprinkle in some ground flaxseed for more. Add your milk and depending on serving size you could get 12-20 grams of protein in a bowl.

I wouldn’t eat actual cereal. Commercial cereals have nothing good in them that are worth the sugar or empty carbs. If you decide never to eat typical grain foods like breads and rice and stuff, you might, like me, want to eat some form of “homemade granola” to get in some of the nutrients and resistant starches we need. I make a “granola” with oats and three kinds of seeds. (Allergic to nuts). I eat it every day, 2 Oz of it. I am not sure I could stay regular without it! No sugar, a drop of honey, some sea salt.

Depends on the type of Cereal you are purchasing. Check the food label.

(old school instructions) I was not allowed bread rice, potato Pasta or processed foods in weight loss mode. Carbs came from veggies.

I have a yogurt and top it with granola in the morning. Ridiculous I make my own granola too. lol oats, nuts, seeds, blackstrap molasses.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
