Aloha All,

starting weight 312

two weeks on pre op diet/ surgery day 302

current weight at 8 months post op 240 which are the two bottom pics. I have been losing quite slowly but can only blame myself due to my weakness for wine. My surgeon did warn against alcohol as it will slow weightloss. I am doing much better at abstaining from drinking! Good luck to those who have not made the jump yet and for those struggling, get back on your plan, you can do this! Happy New Year everyone:)

WOW!!! You are Beautiful! Your skin just glows!! I don't know if anyone has said this or not but CROSS ADDICTION is REAL!! When we can't have food to help us deal, sometimes we move to other things: alcohol, sex addiction, exercise. We all need to be careful here because it is a slippery slope. I am not saying this in a bad way. I just want you to be aware. My hubby said that he hoped I was addicted to sex. LOL NOPE but I do love to shop online and clothes, boots, and purses are my things that I overdo for sure!! Just be aware,

Thanks. The struggle is very real. I was a wine drinker before surgery but was more on the moderate side. When my surgeon discussed it I kind of brushed it off thinking it wasn't going to be a problem. After surgery, as I am also a student often stressing on papers, I found I was reaching for the glass more than usual! I have to admit my shopping has leveled out as I am also a fan of online shopping. Lately, I have had to cut back as clothes I have been ordering end up sliding off me within weeks so I have resorted to shopping in my closet from previous years. I will wait until goal weight to shop again! lol. As for glowing skin, that is probably the Vitamins that I take religiously or maybe its the makeup! lol. I have often seen some folks who end up with tired looking skin and I think it has to do with taking vitamins. I was a bit shocked to find out that not everyone takes them as they should:)

I have always taken my Vitamins. I knew of 3 people that had their WLS back when the called it stomach stapling. None of them were stressed too take their vitamins daily without fail. One has to have Iron infusion often, one has gained ever bit back plus. The 3rd is my niece, who does weird rituals with her eating!! She will eat Kentucky Fried Chicken's mashed potatoes and gravy weeks at a time. She is NOT healthy at all. After my RNY I kind of went off on her about not taking her vitamins and to stop drinking sweet tea 3 or 4 a day. Now I understand part of it, I also have things that I eat for a long time. LOL Like now I can eat whole grain bread, so I take 1 piece of bread, cut it in half, mayo and 1 slice of swiss cheese and 1 slice of ham. I can eat this over and over again. Sometimes it is chili Beans or tamales. I eat them over and over. I have always had a hard time with changes, so I tell my family it is just my OCD!! They all agree with me. Telling me that I am a creature of habit. TOTALLY True!!

LOL Shedo! I have seen this weird food ritual phenomenon in action! I think so long as we get our required Protein, liquids, carbs, etc. we are good to go on whatever else we eat staying at appropriate calorie level as well. I drink my vitamins and Fiber gummies and go through my facial routine every night before bed so that it's a no brainer and I am not worrying if I forgot to take it throughout the day when I am awake. Establishing some kind of routine is a must. Thr same goes for drinking times and eating times. When I was fresh out of surgery, it was such a chore! Now, it is so normal to me, I wonder how I was ever able to eat as much calories and food as I did before

Thanks Biddynz, I said the same thing to those who had theirs before mine. It gives us perspective on how we could be too. Let's motivate and lift each other up! Aloha:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
