Weight Control Oatmeal

Recommended Posts

I've heard some people mention this, so I finally looked into it today. I got the banana bread flavor.. Wow I can't believe 7g of Protein and 6g of Fiber in one packet!!

I haven't tried it yet, but I was wondering what flavor you prefer if you eat these??

I like quaker oatmeal packets, but I normally eat peaches & cream or strawberries & cream.. they don't have any of the flavors I normally get in this variety.

The only flavor I like is Cinnamon (though I haven't tried banana yet - any good?), and I have it every morning (still on mushies). I thought the maple flavor overpowered the Maple & Brown sugar variety.

I love the Blueberry Heart Healthy Oatmeal... usually right next to the Weight Control. Tastes like a blueberry muffin :) I haven't found a weight control oatmeal that I like as much.

Darn, I was hoping it was similar to their other ones.. in general any 'normal' flavor of Quaker I like. I'll let you guys know tomorrow morning how the banana bread turns out.

I really like the maple and brown sugar weight control oatmeal, and it keeps me full for a long time. I know what Shrinkage means though about the overpowering maple. My house has smelled like pancakes ever since I started eating this. If you like maple you will probably like it. I don't like fruit flavored things and I just started liking oatmeal so since I like this flavor I don't think I will be changing it anytime soon. I have eaten it every day for the past two months and haven't got tired of it yet, but there may come a day!

I had the maple brown sugar this morning around 10:00. That very full feeling kicked in around 11:00. I ended up skipping lunch because I was so full. It is 2:50 p.m. here and i am still full. I might try to eat it for Breakfast on a regular basis and try new flavors. But i like it.

Well I'm eating the banana bread flavor. It's not bad like I started to think it would be due to the extra Protein (which means they must add that nasty Protein Powder? !).. but there's the artificial sweetener taste to it, that I'm not too keen about. It even smells like it. It's definitely not my favorite, but it's good enough to eat  I think I'm going to try the maple one next.

Laura - this is what my doc recommends - I like the cinnimon - i add a tad of raisans to mine... I love it - I got the banana too but like the cinnamons the best. This is low sugar and that's why doc recommends - compare the sugar content - it's still sweet tasting but not so many grams.

I have taken the cinnamon and added splenda brown sugar - applesauce - raisins and made Cookies - you get 4 med size Cookies - a little spongie but over all pretty good (i cooked them soft) - i figured about 45 c a cookie. - but since one packet makes 4 you can't over do it.....

I've never been a fan of oatmeal. I like the Medifast Apple Cinnamon oatmeal better than the maple/brown sugar. I had some leftover from when I did Medifast, so I was just trying to use it up and not waste it. It is ok, but like I said, I don't really like oatmeal.

I haven't tried that one, but I had some Medifast Maple/Brown Sugar oatmeal this morning. It has 11 g Protein and 5g Fiber.

I did NOT like the medifastoatmeal at all... imho taste like card board - I like their banana cream shake though and a little real banana and ice in a blender - yummy

I do like their cream of brocolli Soup - and cream of chicken - good to have at work for lunch..

I think the weight control oatmeal uses nonfat milk powder to up the protien. I don't really know and I threw away my box so I cant read it. But it is more creamy than regular instant oatmeal that is why I think it is milk powder.

Hm.. mine was actually really thick and clumpy compared to normal oatmeal. Do you add milk or Water? I might have eyeballed it wrong, I made it at work.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
