HELP! Biggest worry about surgery is anesthesia...m

Recommended Posts

Am I being crazy?? I have been under twice before but last time I was 17 and now I am 31. I am so afraid of not waking up and everytime I think about I get sick because I imagine not seeing my son again.

Please help calm my nerves - surgery is coming up fast - January 24th.

Lauren - That was my biggest concern too. I wasn't worried about anthing but that! After I got to the hospital, I just knew in my heart everything was going to be fine. I wasn't even nervous anymore. I think everyone goes through that feeling. We'll say a little extra prayer for you when you go!

These ladies are right. The Anesthesiologists do this several times a day. Focus on the positive outcomes. You'll be around a lot longer to see your son. Losing weight increases longevity!

Lauren, this is just one of the little steps required to get your band. Like already mentioned, you're increasing your lifespan by getting healthier. The people in the pre-op area are always so nice! They'll come and talk with you - confirm what you're having done, ask you if you have any problems with anesthesia. Your surgeon will talk with you. The nurses will check on you a few times. They'll begin your i.v. and ask you if you're cold. They bring this wonderful WARM blanket and cover you. By then, the relaxant in your i.v. is kicking in and you'll start feeling all snuggly under that cozy blanket. They'll take you in the o.r. and get you settled on the table. They'll put an oxygen mask over your face and you'll drift off to sleep. I didn't even wake up in the post-op area. I roused up enough to get into my hospital bed, then dozed back off. You'll spend the night and go home the next day (after a barium swallow to see that everything is fine.) You'll be an official bandster, girl!

This was my biggest concern, also. I told the doctors so, and was reassured that the anesthesiologist was part of the surgical team, and saw their camaraderie. I was at peace with myself when I realized it was the beginning of the procedure. Then they gave me a couple of pills to hold under my tongue that made everything even more 'serene.' I was a very cooperative patient by the time we all went to the operating room. The last thing I recall was the anesthesiologist saying my name and telling me that we're starting now, is that okay? (Of course, it was.) He began the i.v., and all went well.

I think everything they did with me was part of normal procedure, but would advise that you inform them of your fear. They know what they need to do to reassure you. I began at peace, and their meds made everything beyond that an easy ride...

I think that's priority concern for most, but we're dealing with professionals and they don't want you to stay asleep forever either! I just wanted to make sure I WAS and stayed asleep during the surgery, LOL. I don't remember a thing after they rolled me out of my preop room made a right turn and then woke up in my room. They use some good stuff. Good Luck.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
