Hello all. I was curious on how long it took for you to be pain free? I was 3 weeks out on Christmas Day and I still have moments of pain in my big incision site. (The one my stomach came out of). My surgery was December 4th and things have been great but the pain is a bit breath taking sometimes. Is this normal? The 2 people I know that have had a biatric surgery said they were pain free in a week... but here I am on week 3. I don’t feel like I’m a wuss but here I am.. complaining lol. Any insight?

Hi dfluke87 I had my surgery Nov 27 and I'll have pain still if I move the wrong way or bending over the wrong or my biggest struggle has been with wearing normal pants. My wrist of my pants hit right where my 2 incisions...I say 2 because I have the one where they took out my stomach than I have one by my belly button. Even sitting a certain way causes pain. So you aren't alone and don't forget everyone heals differently and everyone handles pain differently. But you aren't alone this was a major surgery and they are cutting through your muscles so it will take some time to heal and the pain to fully go away. I sleep with an ice pack on my stomach every night. You got this!

Oh thank you!! That makes me feel 100% better. That’s exactly where I hurt. Sitting down sometimes hurts and those certain bends get me hurting. I’m so glad you commented!! I’ll try the ice pack!!

I was pain free after 48 hours. It might be worth following up with your Doctor. Good luck.

Within hours after surgery.

I was a lucky sleever. I was walking gingerly the next day ... NOT in PAIN but WARY of doing any damage to my stitches/sealed op wounds.

I was relatively comfortable going home from the hospital.

I started minor exercise within ten days and was back in the pool swimming 60 or more laps per day by the fourth weekend post surgery.

I had a little pain for about 72 hours. Was worst when trying to get comfortable to sleep, because I wanted to be on my side.

I'm three weeks out and having no problem shoveling snow, bringing groceries in, doing cardio exercise, etc.

If I overdo it....my incisions can ache a little. But by the next day, they're painless again.

I had surgery on 12/4 too. I was relatively pain free after a week. But I was walking a crap ton that week. Like, a ton... idk. Anyway, I have some pain in one my incisions still. Mostly when clothes brush it weird or something. And I get a weird pressure feeling sometimes when I sit a certain way. But that’s it. Nothing I use any sort of pain medication for.

Overall I didn't have pain issues but the big incision took a bit long to get to pain free status. I felt sort of a "catching" feeling if I turned my torso suddenly or make some movements.
Remember we all have different pain thresholds. What others may define as general discomfort might be moderate to severe pain to others. If you do feel the pain is not subsiding to your tolerable levels, then of course talk to your doctor.

That’s exactly how it feels. A “catching” feeling. It’s not constant at all it just had me worried that something is/was wrong. I’d like to say today my pain is far less. It’s subsided a lot. Thank the lord!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
