In California, it's good for 30 days, but it is a standard EKG, chest xray, and blood work prior to any surgery. Although I was told a chest xray shouldn't be necessary unless the anesthesiologist wants it.

I figured it was probably a state by state thing.

Hi Jaz! I just scheduled my surgery for 3/5/18. I am 30, 5’9 my weight is 210. I’ve gone up and down so many times in my life and wanted to put a stop to this. I’m nervous and excited, I’m sure the same as you!!

Looking as possibly April or May. If I go through with this. I’m having some serious cold feet this week.

Hi there, I am new as well, just joined today. Seeing my surgeon today to discuss a date for surgery. Looks like we should be getting it around the same timeframe this spring. I am going to try to do the three month fast track program. I'm so scared. I have really bad anxiety so they are going to have to knock me out before going into surgery. I'm praying you do great and this surgery brings you everything you hope for!

I am hoping for April too. My 6 months will be by then for insurance. I had my first exercise consult yesterday and I have nutritionist next week. Hoping they go quick. My insurance and surgery center just require clearance from them

For everyone that inquired about me saying that my cardiac clearance is only good for one month while everyone else has been told it’s good for a year, the thing that I didn’t mention that I’m sure they are probably taking into consideration when telling me it’s only good for a month is the fact that I previously had congestive heart failure...so it could be that clearance lasts longer for a person who has never had heart problems.

Hi.! And welcome!!! Congrats on starting the journey. Yes it extremely exciting, but nerving wrecking at the same time.lol. I’m just about done with my process as well. I have both psych eval and appointment 4 of my required 6 next week...When they told me that I had to basically wait 6 months to have surgery i was kind sad about it, but time is flying by so fast...February is next week.! Lol. My appointments with my PCP fall between the 1st and 3rd every month, so depending on insurance I’m hoping for late April or early May surgery...I’m definitely taking advantage of this time though. Instead of vlogging my process I’m making a scrapbook of it. It’s more hands on, and it just feels better to me because it will take more work than just simply recording videos and taking pictures ever so often...how is the process going for you so far??

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
