The surgeons may be well qualified but the office staff is very unorganized and unprofessonal. As this surgery becomes more mainstream they won't be the only game in town and will have to improve. Even fat people like to be treated with respect and they just don't get it.

I had my LapBand surgery on July 9th thru the Kane Center and I will tell you they were the best! I have had alot of surgeries in my life and I was never more prepared for a surgery than I was with this one. I had some issues with my insurance company and they referred me to a lawyer who dealt with the insurance company and between my paper work and their help, I got approved. Everything is laid out so you know exactly what step is next in the process. I had amazing care in the hospital and since July 9th, my last weigh in was August 18th I have lost 38 pds! They have counseling, support groups for before and after. No practice is perfect, trust me I have had my issues with doctors over the years, but I think they are a center of excellence and make sure that whoever gets a gastric surgery done is well prepared by them. But lets face it, we have to actually do the work too, after all this is a working relationship...as we have heard it said before - it dont work unless you work it. If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

My dad went through the Kane Center for his lap band surgery. He had applied with University of Chicago, but they ofer the surgery without the additional "add ons" that the Kane Center offers. We could not be happier!!! The Kane Center prepares you for your surgery and offers you as many of the tools that you choose to use after your surgery. Dad had his surgery the last week of Feb and is down 48 lbs as of yesterday. Better yet, his diabetes is in check and he is almost off his insulin (something we never thought would happen). We could not be happier with the decision to go with the Kane Center. They have been more than helpful every step of the way. I am seriously considering the surgery as well and can assure you that if I do proceed, I will definitely go through the Kane Center.:tt1:

I have mixed feelings about them. I was banded in MX and they took me for follow up (plus). I too found their office staff disorganized and it's hard to reach anyone on the phone (minus). But I always got a call back when I left a message, and I have been called by both the doctor and nurse to answer my questions (plus). They constantly reschedule my appointments, I don't think I ever had one at the time I originally set it for (minus). But everyone there has always been super nice to me (plus). I think the doctor seems a little too conservitave, he has sent me for 3 upper GI in less than a year-which of course I pay for out of pocket (minus). Of course this is all my experiences and everyone is different...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
