Need advice on foods!!

Recommended Posts

I’m 20 days post-op and the only things I can tolerate are popsicles, chicken broth, cream of wheat, and vegetarian refried Beans. I’ve tried other suggestions on my approved list but they cause a lot of pain when I eat and I feel miserable. Anybody have any suggestions or tips for me? Anything would be greatly appreciated!!

I found yoghurt great from day 3. A bit diluted with low fat milk. Are you allowed that?

I am allowed plain yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese, tuna, scrambled eggs, and avocados however all of these thing give me a really bad stomach ache!! I see that most people have been able to move up fairly easily but I am really struggling. [emoji24]

Baby food toddler chicken sticks. They're kinda gross, but they were the first meat I could tolerate, as they are made with some whey Protein mixed in....very easy on the stomach. 100 calories for a jar, 10g protein.

My list says specifically no baby food! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Weird. Mine says the meat sticks are fair game and very gentle on the tummy. LOL

Yep, they're all different. Would be really interesting to know who makes this crap up, and why they so often disagree.

I’m wondering if maybe I’m having trouble with dairy, although I’ve never had issues before. I wish this new stomach came with an instruction manual lol

I'd suggest sticking with what works for you for a while and introducing different things gradually. Some of the stuff that doesn't work now will probably work later. One of my friends had given me some Medifast foods and I found one of the Soup packages and the oatmeal both very tolerable. I've also bought some high-protein Quaker oatmeal that I like.

Overall, though, this is a relatively brief period in the grand scheme of things. Concentrate on getting your Protein and Water and get through the first month or so--it's rough, but once it's over you can expand your choices a lot.

Good luck . . .

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
