It’s my first day back from my gallbladder surgery. I had my sleeve done in Mexico and gallbladder done in Canada. I found the gallbladder surgery to be ten times tougher than the sleeve. Given the choice, I would never combine the surgeries. I ended up paralyzed for two hours after my gallbladder surgery due to a reaction to anaesthesia even the overall pain is excruciating in comparison to the sleeve.

I had my gallbladder removed, hernia repaired and sleeve surgery all at the same time and I was 60 years old at the time. I went in on a Wednesday afternoon and was back home on Friday afternoon. I did have a lot of pain from gas and at one point my BP dropped really low so they kept me an extra day. It took me 4 weeks to recover and get back to work but that was because I am disabled and couldn't walk as much or as long as I should have.

Can share my experience, even though I didn't have sleeve and gallbladder at the same time.

I had my sleeve over a year ago (Nov 2016), and at the time, I weighed 312 lbs. I was 45 years old. It was a very easy surgery for me, not much pain at all and easy recovery, no complications. Easy peasy.

Then Tuesday morning of this week, I had gallbladder surgery. My gb surgery wasn't open, it was laparoscopic, however, my surgeon had to go in a little different way than traditional lap gb surgery to avoid mesh implant from a previous hernia surgery. So he had to cut muscle and then stitch it back up. Today was day 4 post gb surgery, and I am in a lot of pain. I still cannot get to a sitting position from laying or stand up without my husband pulling me up with his hands. I can barely walk without sudden sharp needle-like spasms shooting through the area either where the gb was , or maybe it is coming from the cut muscle, not certain. Anyway, it hurts like hell and I have a high pain threshold.

I was just telling my husband earlier today that I don't see how people can do the sleeve and gb at the same time. Especially people that are very very overweight.

I weighed 334 when sleeve done. I knew I had asymptomatic GB stones but didn’t know for sure he was taking it out. When I awoke he had taken FB out, did sleeve, and fixed a hiatal hernia I didn’t know I had. I am post-op day 6 now. Getting around ok. Sore but no bad pain. Worst problem is figuring out why weight loss not faster. Even gained 0.5 lb yesterday. I seem to be able to hold more than everyone else mentions. Am starting to add Protein powders. Keep forgetting when I drink and take a gulp or two instead of small sips. Hope I haven’t stretched it already!

Thanks for sharing your story, I am so scared and anxious is crazy. Honestly I know is not going to be easy but I think I rather have both and be done with that, because most likely I will have to go back and get it done. Let’s see what happens hopefully is not that bad for me. Thanks again and Happy holidays!!!

If you already have gallbladder issues then it is probably a good idea just to go ahead and get it done. Other people have done both at the same time and they made it just fine.

I hope that it's not bad for you and most likely, it will go just fine. Try not to worry too much.

I wish you the best and happy holidays to you as well.

I haven’t had the sleeve yet but I am getting my gallbladder out on Friday. I am curious about the pain from GB surgery verses the pain from the gastric sleeve. Which one is worse?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
