I haven’t seen my brother in a month or so and he was shocked when he saw me at Easter. He said I look like a totally different person. I just hit that 50 lb mark since the first of the year and other people are starting to notice

Not sure it this is quite an NSV, but...

I have been crossing my legs all the time since I was first able to do it again comfortably months ago. However, I notice that lately, doing so actually been starting to hurt! My knees are getting bony and are digging into the side/back of the leg that rests on top of it when I am crossing my legs. It probably doesn't help that I tend to wrap the foot of upper leg behind the lower leg...ouch.

That's 100% a NSV. I have been able to cross my legs without having to literally pull my leg up for 2 months now and it's nice. I'm also getting bony, I notice when I sit for long periods of time (work) my butt starts to really hurt now that it doesn't have the extra padding. Anyway, good job!

I can sing again. Throughout my childhood and young adulthood I sang in choirs. The last few years I got so big and had such reduced lung capacity that I couldn’t hold a note anymore. Just now while I was on the treadmill walking 4.5 mph, my favorite song came on my shuffle and I started singing along, in tune, no panting or wheezing. When I realized what I was doing I started crying. It was such an incredible moment to realize that I have my voice back.

That is fantastic! Thanks for posting this.

NSV- I jogged a mile without stopping! It was a slow jog but I did it!! I've always wanted to run. My thighs didn't rub together, like they used to! Soooo happy!😆👏

yes I miss the natural padding my rear had. I feel it the most on non padded seats such as the wooden pews at my church. But I would not give up where I am today to get that padding back 😄

So this is a weird one. Last night while taking a bath if I had my knees bent and touching and there was an honest to goodness visible gap. Like I could see thru it and had to really contort myself to close it.

I finally ran out of my stash of skinny clothes I have saved over the years, so I figured I'd go mall shopping this morning for some new summer threads.

So I reached for size Small tops. NOPE i'm an Xsmall (if not smaller!)

Then I went for size 6 dresses. NOPE i'm a Size 2.

Tried on size 29 jeans. NOPE i'm a Size 26.

I'm holding up these clothes and am amazed that my body managed to get into them. I mean they are tiny. And to me, I don't look anywhere near that tiny in the mirror.

The other thing is that back when I was able to fit into these sized clothes , I was weighed much, much less than I do now. I mean, I remember being 105 lbs when I fit into size 4 pants back in high school. Stores must be using vanity sizing more and more...

I took a bath last night and fit in my 1970's era small bathtub without my hips hitting the sides. I used to live in a house with a massive garden tub and I barely fit in there! I was extremely uncomfortable sitting flat on my tailbone, so I had to shift from buttcheek to buttcheek - no padding left!

I can sympathize with that. Lost all of my booty!!

NSV - I'm weaning off my antidepressants! This is directly related to my surgery, eating better, and exercising. I have so much ENERGY and life is full of hope and potential. It's no longer a drag. I'm so excited at the possibility of being med free!

I know what you mean.

I bought discounted end-of-season WINTER clothes (on very low-priced special pricing) at the end of the last Australian winter (July-August, 2018) ... 3XL and 2XL garments ... down from two years ago when I was 9XL/8XL sizing.

As the autumn is having colder nights and much cooler mornings now in late April 2019, I am pulling this stuff out of the drawers to begin wearing it AND THEY ARE "SWIMMING" ON ME in most instances.

I have dawdled to lose only about 12kg (26 pounds) in the last nine months but my upper body is more muscular.

And yet, despite the seeming waste of the money, I'm pleased with the extra NSV feel of fat lower down being replaced by muscle higher up.

My exercise physiologist says that my body's centre of gravity has moved UPWARDS 19mm in 9 months but that my sense of balance (which was 'terrible' before my weight-loss surgery is now "borderline excellent".

Hadn't heard from you for a while but glad you're still on the active list. Happy news for you to share. My ENT weighs metric, 102 kg today, I actually weigh less than my son, diminishing a kg a week at nearly 8 months out. Had a mini-stall while on TPN, so my weight loss now less than typical but I will Celebrate it. See my Bariatric Clinic on next Tuesday, hope they also will be pleased. Down almost to regular sizing, amazed at the increased selections. I think my face looks older, my smile lines show, starting to look more like my dead ancestors instead of a "moon face" . Had someone ask if that was really ME? So a strange NSV to not be readily recognized.

This is the fifth season in a row when I’ve pulled out my stash of season-change clothing and realized I have to donate almost all of it. I am both happy and horrified ($$$!!!) about this.

And this one is a bit odd, but I wore jeans to work today. To get away with wearing jeans in my kind of business setting, you have to make it a whole outfit - like, you’re able to wear jeans but they have to be tailored, an attractive wash, paired with heels and coordinated jewelry and you really need to get the top half right including hair. Jeans can be worn, but as part of a LOOK. You have to look like you might actually be representing a music label in some capacity, rather than “I wore jeans because they’re easy”.

Anyhow, I always felt that was a tall order when I was overweight - coordinating all of that was a million times harder because that shirt might not lie right on my body, the jeans might be a little muffin-top-ish, the shoes might not be good for miles of walking, the Bracelet might not fit. And all of that would change week to week, like I was a shapeshifter. But now I just think “that would go together” AND IT DOES. I don’t have to worry about my body underneath it all anymore.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
