Off 3 diabetes medications.
Knees don't hurt as bad.
Wrapping a regular sized towel completely around me.
Fitting in a plane seat
Disney World
Size 12 clothing down from 26
Zipping regular calf boots. I've probably bought 6 pair this winter. I'm waiting on over the knee boots from Macy's now.
My 5 year old can put her arms around me.
Not using the elevator at work.

So far I'm annoyed with medications. I was on 4 prescriptions for weight-related conditions before the surgery. Of those, I stopped 1, and the rest I'm on half the dose I was on before the surgery. Ever had to split 30 tiny pills in half? No fun! Plus the Vitamins and supplements, plus the ursodial...hasn't really been a net loss for me.

I have this suit I bought to go on a cruise in September that was a shade too tight then. Today I brought it in to have it taken in and the tailor said it’s too big on me to take in. “You lost a lot of weight?” he asked. “Yes, I lost a lot of weight” I responded.

So last week I had to have an imaging test done. The tech had to line up the machine where it needed to be over my abdomen, usually they feel to see where your ribs and hip bones are for landmarks. She walked over to me saying "I need to press on you a bit to line this up", then she looked and said, "Oh, never mind, you're so skinny I can see where it needs to go." And I was wearing jeans and a thin t-shirt! She had no idea how strange that was for me, I still can't believe I was referred to as being skinny!

I guess in a way this is a victory but my wallet does not see it that way :)

I was real carefull not to spend on new clothes that i would drop past real fast. I did go thru 3 belts in the last 7 months.

What i didnt think about was the shoes. I got new shoes for all the walking and the gym and realized today that they are just to dam big now. My bloody feet shrank. Hardly seems like there is much room for fat in the feet but there was enough to for it to be an issue.

hopefully only the one time - can't be that fat footed

10 months since surgery. The other day I realized that I can squat all the way down with butt near the floor, and get right back up, no using arms or anything!! I ran right to my 15 year old son’s room and asked him if he remembered 10-11 years ago when he fell down in a little wave at the beach, and I got down and caught him, but I couldn’t get back up so I just held him and couldn’t lift him out. I vowed then to try and get to where I could squat down and get back up. When I was fat I never could do that. Now I can! He remembered and was proud of me.

I'm still 8 days pre-op, but already 8 kilos (approx 20lb) down in the last 2 months as I cut out carbs and then started VLCD 2 weeks ago.

Already had to retire my old PJ pants as they were so loose on my legs they'd ride up above my knees overnight, and today one of my pairs of pants was too loose in the waist for me to be comfortable to wear them in public (I dug out my old size 22 work pants from 2 years ago and put them on instead).

I'm looking forward to many nsvs, including being able to cross my legs properly!

I was on the beach the other day and wanted to get somewhere fast so started running... and kept running not out of breath at all for half a mile. I’ve never been able to do that. I went for a short jog this morning and this afternoon plan to see how a mile or two feels.

Nearly 4 months since surgery and pretty much all of my non scale victories have been clothes related and that is fine for me.

I'm able to do up two coats that before I couldn't do up and they're not tight on me when done up which is great. All my clothes are baggy on me, I'm wearing jeans I haven't worn in years, its great.

Besides clothes, my general health I know is much more improved. I can walk a lot further now and while after a long walk my feet will still ache (I am big after all) I no longer get back pains which is a massive boost to my walking regime. I think this is my most important victory.

Nice work! The reduced pain is huge, I noticed the same thing. I think general inflamation goes way down when the pounds come off as does the stress on your body.

I'm only 2 weeks post op, but for the last 2 days have noticed that my clothes for work are just too big to look professional. Started digging in that section of my closet that I've been saving because "one day I'll be able to wear it again."

It's so nice re-discovering your clothes again. Also nice when your clothes aren't so tight that it's hard to sit/breath.

Today had someone in my office go out of their way to come tell me how great I'm looking.

It took a long time for me to be happy with this, but it finally happened on Sunday night, when I watched my brother-in-law load up his dinner plate with chicken wings and I was happy I wasn't doing that any more.

so started running... and kept running

Had a memory the other day of when I was a kid and loved running through the mall. Going full speed dodging people as I ran. Used to feel awesome how I used to love running. "NSV's" I'm coming.......

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
