Question About Muscle Relaxers

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if it's safe to take a muscle relaxer? I've had Gastric Bypass and I'm close to being 8 months out from surgery. Is it an NSAID or something completely different or do I just have to stick with taking Tylenol for the rest of my life when Tylenol does absolutely nothing?

The reason I'm asking is because I have really bad chronic Migraines and sometimes I can't even do anything about them until I see my neurologist for a botox injection which is every three months. Sometimes I can make the appointment and when I can't, I have to wait an extra month on top of what I was already waiting and the pills I'm taking that I was prescribed kind of acts like the Tylenol now so... I don't know. Kind of running out of options with pills because every other pill I've tried for migraines failed and yeah, my neurologist knows.

The only thing I know that does work is the muscle relaxers but the last time I took one was before I had my surgery.... Only thing is that those things knock me out fast. If you know any Vitamins that help with migraines, I'm open to trying those too... I just only do gummies. I don't like chewables...

After my RNY gastric bypass surgery, my surgeon identified a list of Vitamins to take for the rest of my life. I was told to avoid gummy vitamins because they are not absorbed properly.

i take muscle relaxers when i have a lot of pain . i tend to sit a long time at work and the posture really affects the back/neck. i take ibuprofen. my dr said on occasion it is fine to take 2. depending on how bad a sneak a third. im still abig girl so its more effective. tylenol arthritis is another good one it is much stronger than the extra strength. all permissive buy my dr.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
