Fell off the Wagon...HELP

Recommended Posts

I have completely fallen off the wagon and am only down a total of 20 pounds since I was banded 1-25-06!

I have no fill at all. And sometimes even have difficulty eating with just an empty band. I have fibromyalgia along with other autoimmune problems. Once in a while I will have a whole body system swell; once it was joints, then respiratory, and even digestive. I got discouraged and would only eat what went down without a problem.

I am unmotivated and fat. I need help and encouragement. Most of all, I need a starting point. I don't know what to do first.

Thanks for all of your input in advance. All comments are welcome.

Darl

Hi Dar, I too have fibro and another autoimmune disorder. Not too sure what it is though. I go to the rhumitologist every 3 months for check ups and refills on meds. Are you on anything for either condition? I have just begun my lap band journey. I've been for the consultation and go to pulmonologist tomorrow. The BS had me go for blood work and the guy taking my blood was surprised by all of the tests that were ordered. 21 viles of blood!!! I'm so glad to hear that someone out there has had the band with similar conditions as myself.

As for all of the problems that you have encountered, I'm sorry to hear that. I know when we get the flair ups it's hard to eat healthy. It's sometimes painful to have to cook because of all the time that it takes to prep the food and to prepare it. So much easier to pick up the phone and order delivery or drive to the closest fast food place. But when it gets to that point I just keep telling myself that if I can get thru this time of pain to eat something more healthy and be able to loose weight, in the long run my overall health IS going to become better and I WILL feel better.

Congratulations on the 20 lbs.:clap2: have you tried to make healthy meals that you can tolerate and freezing them in small portions to thaw and heat on those days that you just don't feel well enough to do all the work? That's what I've started doing for my family. That comes in handy on thoes days that are too hectick too! Keep your head up and just think, you're 20 lbs. lighter than you used to be!! keep in touch

Theresa

I need to pull myself out of the dolldrums and find a 'good' day to cook many small meals. I've just been so good at making excuses lately.

Thank you for the little clap. I need to remind myself of the success I have achieved thus far, no matter how small. Trying to lift 20 pounds of potatoes would hurt. Shedding 20 pounds IS an achievement.

As far as Fibromyalgia goes, my Rheumatologist does nothing for me. I get the most help from my primary and my pain management specialist. My SED rate is always elevated indicating inflammation somewhere. I get steroid injections when it's REAL bad. Other than that I use Cymbalta (an antidepressant that also has the ability to block pain receptors), Klonopin for the muscle jerks, and Soma (muscle relaxer) for muscle rigidity. Narcotics are often prescribed but I find them useless. They just make me high and provide no relief.

I appreciate you responding. I am sorry you are battling auto immune problems as well. It's tough. If you need additional support, join me on fibromyalgiasupport.com. My screen name is 30feeling80.

Thanks again,

Darlene

I was on cymbalta at one time... I'm now on effexor, I also take prednisone, sullfisalizine, and plaquinil for the auto immune probs. and fybro. I'm ALSO on 2 meds. for high blood pressure. I feel like a walking billbord for drug companies. I told someone just this morning that I'm 30 feeling 80. I totally know how you feel. I think we have it harder than others that are just strugelling with weight and weigh related problems. No matter what our weight we're still not going to feel 100%. Right now I'd settle for 75%. On top of all that I also have sleep apnea and am having trouble getting the right pressure for my CPAP. I can't tell you how happy I am that I found someone who totally understands how I feel. The skinny little doctors try to sympathise and my mom has SLE Lupus and fybro so she knows about the pain but she's never been more than 20-25 lbs. overweight. As far as my husband goes...he's NOT understanding at all. He pretty much tells me to "suck it up" and "get over it." NOT at all what I need when I'm laying there feeling sorry for myself because I can't even button my paints because they either don't fit or my hands are just too sore and stiff. Sorry for the mini-rant. Can you tell he drove me nuts today? Anyway, if you'd like to email me directly I use the same username thru yahoo. Talk to you soon. Try to keep your head up!

Dar,

I'm reading some old posts and came across yours. How are you doing now?

My surgery isn't for 4 weeks, and I'm trying to read everything I can find. I even got some CD's about life after lap band!

Hope you are well-

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
