Don't worry about the rate you lose weight. It's more important that the weight is coming off. The goal is healthy! Congratulations on 40 pounds.

I am assuming at 5.5 months you already know your food and exercise instructions. Keep working them and moving forward.

Loss rate generally doesn't pick up over time - it usually declines over time as one has less weight to move around, one burns somewhat fewer calories in their everyday life. We generally see a big drop the first 2-3 weeks of a weight loss program (starting at surgery, or a pre-op diet) due primarily to Water weight loss before the actual burning of our fat stores begins and things slow down a bit (fat burns more slowly than the carbohydrate based glycogen that we burn off at first.) Those who maintain a more consistent loss rate over their journey are typically those who get seriously into an exercise program (as in marathon training, rather than an extra couple blocks of walking) to counter the declining caloric deficit. They are the outliers of this world (as in the "*results not typical" fine print in the weight loss ads.)

You can certainly meet your goals if you keep at it. As you are about half way there, figure that it may take about twice as long as you have already been at it to get that second half of weight loss done, but it can be done if you stick with it and don't let a lot of crap back into your diet.

Sleeve folks usually lose weight 12-18 months. You're down 40 in 5.5 months....that's like...7 pounds a month! That's not bad at all!

Ok...say you slow down for the next five month and lose about five pounds a month....that's 25 more pounds.

Then...say you slow down to about three pounds a month for the following five months......that's 15 more.

That's 40 pounds....which is the balance of what you need to get to your goal weight!

Have patience, you're doing great, and you're well on your way:) By next year Halloween, you'll be at your goal.

Takes time and persistence. You didn't gain it all in a couple months. Will take a while...but you will get there:)

7 pounds a month is great. I'm currently losing about 1-2 pounds a month. I think at the height of my loss I was losing 1-2 pounds a week most weeks so 4-8 pounds a month with some large weight loss weeks and some stalled weeks. Just stick with it, slow and steady wins the race.

I had the sleeve 2 and a half weeks ago. I was loosing a pound a day. Then once I started mushy foods the weight loss slowed. I'm eating about 600 to 800 calories a day. Is this to much?

Do a site search for the infamous week 3 stall. Tends to happen as people move into solids. Totally normal and losses will resume. Follow your surgeons instructions and you should be fine.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
