Post OP 4 days

Recommended Posts

Does anybody have a hard time feeling motivated, excited?? I’m following my post-OP diet to the T but I find my self frustrated most of the times. How can I get excited again about having my MGB done ?? P.S I’m not hungry at all but I see everybody eating my favorite foods.

I’m 4 days out from my sleeve and I have had a full range of emotions. I don’t want to be around my family when they eat. Like you, I am not hungry or want what they have, but I just don’t want to even see the food. It’s weird for me to see it, but have no desire to eat it. I think that is what is throwing me emotionally. I may be expecting my old feeling of food lust to surface and their not. I know I’m rambling!!!

i felt unmotivated a few days before the surgery. I think it was nerves. It did help me to see the scale moving so quickly.

I am curious. Do you feel worried about messing up when you get to “real” food, rather than liquids?

Idk if I would be afraid to mess up when I get to the pure foods. Idk what to think to be honest. Maybe when I get to the stage, I’ll know for sure. I also go to my room when my family eats and idk why but I don’t like seeing them eat real food.

I'm 5 days post-op and had to attend my company luncheon today, at my favorite restaurant! Pasta for a crowd, wine flowing and, THE BREAD! I sat there with my glass of water... drooling. I think it was a good thing tho... I realized that I could skip it all and still survive! I think it is important to be able to be social with family and friends even if they are eating and I am not!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
