Revision sleeve to bypass

Recommended Posts

Never thought that I would be staring over but here I am. I had the gastric sleeve, hiatal hernia repair and gallbladder removal done in January 2013. Got down to 159 from 225 (I'm 5'3.5"). I never hit goal of 140. Fast forward to 2015, I started to slowly gain weight, and then I got pregnant and gain more weight. As of today, I'm up to 210. I am considering a revision to the ds or rny. I'm dealing with issues such as: pcos, prediabetic, constant heartburn, back and hip pain, decrease in energy, etc. I just want a better quality of life. I have my first NUT appointment and psychological evaluation on 1/11. Who has had a revision with a low bmi? What was your process like? Was you able to be approved through insurance?

I am not an expert with insurance requirements. I suspect they might resist approval unless there is an underlying condition that needs to be corrected by revision. In your case the condition might be constant heartburn. This condition might be GERD. The sleeve will generally make this condition worse and that may be the logic for a revision.

My insurance covers revision as long as it's medically necessary. So like the other gal said if you can prove that it's medically necessary to cure your GERD it won't matter what your BMI is because they'll look at it as a procedure not a weight loss surgery. I'm getting a revision to the bypass because of complications from my sleeve. They approved it in less than a day. And I'm only 167 pounds

I’m having a revision to RNY from the sleeve (2012). I’m considered a “lower” BMI. I have extreme GERD. I had to have the PH test done, which was horrible and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Also, had to have an upper GI done. I have a hernia and a hiatal hernia. I was approved in a couple days and am scheduled for surgery January 29th.

Best of luck to you.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
