Anybody in San Antonio, Texas have skin removal?!

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anybody in San Antonio, Texas has had skin removal surgery? What surgeon’s do you recommend? Did you have to pay for the skin removal surgery? How much did it cost? What weight were you at when you had the skin removal? How much weight did you lose?

I am in Illinois, and not ready for plastics yet but very interested in Dr. Peter Fisher in san Antonio. He specializes in wls patients and has some techniques I like.

Are you at the stage of getting plastics?

You're lucky you're in San Antonio. Peter Fisher is one of the best there is, and he's located in San Antonio! People go to him from all over the country.

btw - I haven't had plastics yet, but Peter Fisher is on my short list. He's also very reasonably priced compared to other US surgeons who do this (you could probably do better price-wise if you travel abroad, but his prices are good for the US). And yes - plastic surgery is usually self-pay. Sometimes insurance will cover it - or at least some of it - if you've had a lot of documented problems with the loose skin, though - like chronic rashes - but unfortunately, I've never had anything like that.

I will look up Peter Fisher. Thanks!

I am not in that stage yet but I want to start doing research because I had my sleeve a week ago and I lost a lot of weight before my surgery. I was 557 lbs. in May 2016. December 13th 2017 I am down to 371 lbs. now that I had my sleeve I know I will be losing weight fast. I already lost 10 lbs. in a week. So I want to do research and pick my top 5 plastic surgeon’s that I want to talk to and ask questions. Ask about cost and stuff so I can try and save up money.

I am in San Antonio as well. It is good to know that there is a good surgeon here. I will keep this info, just in case I need it.

Thanks!

someone on another forum I'm on really liked John LoMonaco in Houston. I know he's sometimes featured on that show "Skin Tight". Most of the other really well-known surgeons (who specialize in WLS patients) that I've read a lot about are on the coasts, although I'm sure there are good surgeons in a lot of places - they just aren't as well-known among bariatric patients. Fisher is definitely well-known, though.

btw - check out realself.com for reviews - lots of plastic surgeons have been reviewed there. From everything I've read, you want a plastic surgeon who specializes in people who've had massive weight loss, or at minimum, they've done boatloads of them. It's supposedly one of the more complicated surgeries, so you want someone who's done a lot of them. Dr. Fisher specializes in them - I think that's pretty much all he does.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
