My tummy isnt as big! You've done great losing 46lbs! My surgery was 12/29. Even when I stall and the scale doesn't change, I can feel changes in my clothing (and shoes!?) so I'm hopeful and excited like you. 2 Tzangel31 and Taylor5 reacted to this

I completely agree! I lost 11 the first week so we're basically identical. I am staying off the scale till my 1 month post op on the 1st 1 Taylor5 reacted to this

Lost all my weight first week, have only lost a couple of pounds week 2 and 3. Dr said it's normal. The key for me is it's going down, and I know it will eventually go down more. I feel so much better already having almost 25lbs off, it's been worth it. 1 Taylor5 reacted to this

That's very reassuring to know that others are having the same trajectory and that your Dr. said it's normal. Thanks! 1 Taylor5 reacted to this
DaleAnn 16 Posted January 20, 2018 Good to know others are going as slowly as I am. I have added an hour of walking. Exhausted after but it feels good to be outside. I take a Protein Drink with me to help with the fatigue. They tell me my body is in starvation mode and that I need to eat more. Never thought I would hear myself sayc- yeah right. JukeboxJess 15 Posted January 22, 2018 Hey all,It's been a while since I've checked in. I'm not in the soft foods phase, reintroducing things slowly, and I had stalled for a while, too. I mean, duh, of course it's easy to lose weight when you're on all liquids, huh?My doctor just reminded me to take advantage of this first year, not rush foods or anything, because this year is key to losing. My NUT said I could go as high as 80 g of Protein a day, and it would help burn more. I've been doing less Protein Shakes and more regular food, too, but I guess it's not time to give up on the shakes just yet...HW: 360SW: 342CW: 302Sent from my Pixel using BariatricPal mobile app
abefroman329 704 Posted January 22, 2018 FYI for anyone who feels like they're not losing quickly enough: I saw the dietitian today for my one-month appt, and she said patients are expected to lose 2-4 pounds a week.

I mean, I lost 10 lbs pre-op on the liquid diet - thought I would have lost more w/it being such a shock to my system, but was happy enough w/5 lbs each of those two weeks. But then post-op I was down 6 lbs week 1, 3 lbs week 2, and 1.5 lbs week 3. I weigh in this Weds for week 4. So far that's only 10.5 lbs for 3 weeks, plus whatever I've lost/am losing between wks 3-4. Say I (optimistically) lose 3.5 lbs by Weds. That would be 14 lbs in the first 4 weeks. Isn't that low? I know everyone loses at a different rate, but still, it Feels pretty low... I had my surgery in MX so I don't go to an office for weigh-ins but rather do them at home and log them on the surgeon's website where it's graphed out from Day One and they can follow my progress. I can call or email the nutritionist, but I haven't yet. Waiting to see what happens on Weds. Also that's when I'm supposed to move to soft foods, but am now wary to do so bc I'm afraid it will slow rate of loss even more. But ugh am I sick of the Protein Shakes. I have the unflavored Protein Powder from BariatricPal Store and I have been adding that to everything I eat - which doesn't seem like a lot, at least to me. My average is 700/750 cals per day. I feel hungry pretty often and have cravings for tons of stuff, but have been able to reign it in so far. At least I get full on a small amount - that was the long-lasting effect I was going for, I was just hoping for less hunger the first month or so, and More Weight Loss the first month ("the weight just falls off!") - I swear I read that a thousand times waiting to have my surgery. So I am grateful for feeling full/satisfied on much less. I have begun adding exercise this week, hoping that would ignite a change. Keep wondering if I need to lower my calorie intake or increase it? Or stay the same and wait it out...bash my head against the wall...etc.

I am currently at 185, which means we are almost the same and started at almost the same weight too! My doctor said that weight loss can be slow the first month as your body heals and gets used to the new stomach. Also, we can't compare ourselves to the typical weight loss because we have less to lose than most and ours is bound to be slower. Hang in there.
Livingmybestlife 19 Posted January 23, 2018 NuHi there sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been busy with work and playing catch up. So my status report is that I have been losing about 1lb to a 1lb and a half a week give or take. Protein Shakes still are a No Bueno! I ordered the fruit ones from the Bariatric Pal Store. (They gave it to me in the Hospital) I could stomach it pretty well. I have been walking quite a bit which was directed by the surgeon. He says I can get a bit more into working out 2nd or 3rd week of Feb. As for food I've had 3 bouts of the food revisiting me this is after using my saucer as my serving plate. I have been eating baked chicken 1 wing with bones but super soft. I have had it with Roasted beets. Super soft. Or 2 tbsp of mashed potatoes made with broth. I think I ate it too fast. Breakfast was 1 egg scrambled soft with cheese that was ok just ate half. I am drinking plenty of Water and Vitamins make me sick. I'm taking all the recommended list items but just ordered the Patches. I am hoping this helps. We are doing good and I'm so proud of us. Thanks for the updates it helps! Seems like there are several of us in this boat, so hopefully you're right and it's just a combo of different factors and it will all work itself out in the end
