Wondering if anyone vapes? If you do how long did you wait until you started vaping again? Do you use nicotine? Do you feel a difference since starting again?

My doc told us if we weren't willing to give up nicotine for a lifetime....not to have surgery.

Nicotine can cause ulcers and majorly slows healing. My Dr will not operate on any smoker/vaper unless you have quit at least 12 weeks prior and never take it up again.....you need to just quit, get some help for that please.

Hey thank you for your input. I quit over 3 months ago. I have already had my surgery. And I was just wondering if there was anyone here that continued.

Even if there was. I wouldn't let it give you permission to start as it's a real health risk that the consequences can be really bad.

Like a steam engine. I switched to 0mg juice for a couple months after surgery because nicotine can mess with healing but I went back up to 3mg after that and my doc didn't mind.

Yes I vape (6mg nicotine). I vaped right after surgery in August and have continued. My surgeon wasn't concerned and I wasn't told to stop. haven't noticed any ill effects.

I'll effects is not something you notice.. till you end up with a blood clot and you may find out to late. But aslong as your aware of the risks and don't mind.

I vape too, though much less than before my sleeve, mainly because I forget and also don’t have the same desire as before. Never caused me any harm.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
