How much liquid at one time?

Recommended Posts

OK, those of you on the full-liquid stage, here's a question. How much Soup do you consume at a meal? How big are your Protein shakes?

I've been consuming approximately 12-14 ozs of either Soup or shake at a sitting, and get plenty full. That's only slightly less than the amount I'd have before banding; it seems like a serving to me. Am I nuts? Should I actually be stopping at 8 ozs. and saying "enough"?

Then what do you do with the rest of the can?

Alexandra,

It is important to remember that liquids do go right through an unrestricted band, so it is NOT surprising that you can drink that much at a sitting. All you can do is make sure that the liquids you are drinking are good choices.

I tend to mix my Protein shakes up a little on the thin side (more Water than the recipe calls for) and that way I get more Fluid with less calories/carbs. I also found Water loading helpful in the beginning. Water loading is when you drink a lot of water about 15 minutes or so before you eat. This helps to fill up the lower half of your stomach so that when you do eat (or drink your soup/shake as the case may be) you will feel fuller sooner. :D

Alex,

Don't worry about it. Everyone is different. I usually had 5-6 oz of creamy Soup and then I would stop. If I needed more to be fill I would add more. THe best Soups that I felt the most full with the least amount was cream of asparagus and cream of mushroom. I would put a sprinkle of blue cheese on top and it made me feel like I was royalty!!! Don't expect any restriction on a creamy liquid diet!! Get used to lots of tupperware containers with bits of soup and stuff forever in your refrigerator.!!!!

i to have been able to drink more than the 4-6 oz. liquids. i will be hungry in 15 mintes as soon as it drips through. so i have been going for thick Soups or puree-ing veg soups till they are muck. doesnt look good but i cant drink more than 4-6 oz of it that way and i stay full much longer! i am sure as the swelling continues to go down the liquids will drip quicker!

i am allowed things like cottage cheese, and mashed taters on the runny side, puddings, yogurts...

alexandra-- gladware is now making 'mini's' they are 1/2 cup containers... 8 for $2.49 at wal-mart...

When i was ont he liquid phase, I put my Soup in a blender and then put it all in one container. Then for the meals, I scooped out 1/4 of a cup for the first two weeks and then 1/2 a cup. One day I tried to eat 1 cup and I got too full. Everyone is different, as we all know.

One of my favorite soup combos: Campbell's Soutwest chicken soup blended with Campbell's Fiesta cheese soup (Haven't tried the regular cheese soup yet). It's not bland and the cheese soup gives it a good flavor.

The first 6 weeks are about your stomach healing. I don't think the extra 4 ounces will make much of a difference.

I drink a whole bowl of Soup at a sitting, since it's mostly liquid it goes right thru the band.

It's not much less then what I would drink pre-band.

The only difference now is that I actually feel satisfied and pre-band it would be only a snack.< /p>

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
