Hey all! I just joined last week. I have my last pre-op appointment on July 31st, and surgery schedule for August 13th! Feeling lots of emotion and a little scared but know this is the best decision for me.../

Hi There! going through the hoops here! I was originally referred to a Core program, (3 months of shakes) but when I met with the doctor, he said I was a good candidate for surgery. After thinking it over and talking to a few people who have had the surgery, I opted in. I have a pre-op group info session next week. From there, I have no idea how long til surgery. I'm expecting about 6 months but who knows. I'm in Ontario so it's all covered so I feel really luck. My work place is also very supportive.

Hi new here. The process for me went very very fast. My initial visit was May 22nd & I’m scheduled for surgery July 26th. I have a BMI of 37. I think the most stressful part was the psych evaluation. Not sure why it was so stressful but it was.

Wowee You are on Speed Dial instead of slogging along forever like I feel I have done. But you are very welcome and we are proud to add you to our world-wide group. I am 72, BMI of 47, planning RnY bypass surgery yet this month, I should find out an exact date 7/17/2018. It will be at Ohio State University Hospital with Bradley J Needleman. the top Dog Bariatric Surgeon. there so I am a lucky lady. Been on this trek since August 2015, many stops and starts, but soon it will be completed and I can start on a future life more healthy, more fit and a lower weight is pretty cool too. Lets share this experience together!😛🍀🙏😷🌈

Hi I had the sleeve on July 10th. I am tolerating full fluids pretty well. Getting bored though. Trying to be creative with Soups to switch it up a little. No swallowing issues thank god. Losing slowly. Looking forward to my new slimmer life.

Hello. New to the group. I've done all pre op testing, except for the EGD which is scheduled for August 1st. My bariatric surgery benefits become active on October 29, and the plan is to submit on that day. Looking forward to a November 2018 surgery date.

Welcome @Pznapd and good luck on your journey. Be ready to get your fill of knowledge and experience here from so many wonderful people. Feel free to ask ANYTHING and you will get supportive answers and suggestions. The group here are so great. I couldn't be happier that I have been a part of it for the last few months!!

I'm 10 days post op, had mine on July 12th. On full liquids now and have been doing well with everything. A bit rough the 1st few days but thankfully it was no where near as rough as some experiences I have read about. Weight loss is going great. I was +5lbs 2 days after surgery date but since, 8 days later, I'm down 18lbs. In know this will not last very long but I hope it lasts for a good bit. I'm so anxious to start working out more but I know I have to wait. Patience was not something I thought I'd have to work on during this process.

Best of luck to everyone.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
