And you have your head in just the right place. I'm the Bariatric Grandma on here, at least the oldest currently, had a rocky weight loss path that still isn't over, but I'm a tough ole hen, I'm in it to win it -late as I am to the party. I am 72, will be 73 December 26th, BMI of 47, 323 lbs of stubborn chicken fat on a 5ft8in frame, strawberry blonde hair, hazel green eyes and a cantankerous disposition at times. I believe the adage: Fool me once, shame on YOU Fool me twice shame on ME. Well I was fooled once by a Bariatric program at what I thought was a reputable hospital, screwed over my emotions, I'm enrolling in another program this week, and by all that is holy, I WILL get my RnY surgery this time. As Reba Mc Entire says I AM A SURVIVOR. My late mamma, may she rest in peace, used to say "God gave you 2 ears and 1 mouth. This is so you will listen twice as often as you talk!" Well, I didn't take it fully to heart I can talk for hours on most any subject. If you have any bariatric questions, just ask. If I don't have an answer somebody else on Bariatric Pal will. Welcome again, we hope you'll hang with us for a good long time.

Hey @ GerryBhoy, Rosie Queen of. Scots is still active on Bariatric Pal so you have a countrywoman lurking around here somewhere. Scotland Forever! I have Dunn from Dundee in my family tree and Mary Scott, my paternal great-grandmother was born in Edinburgh. I suspect that's where my red hair comes from.

Be proud of your Celtic firey red hair. it makes you 1 in a million.

I am pretty new on here. I started the program in November and will be getting the gastric sleeve. I just received my surgery date for April. I am so grateful for the support and advice I have received this far from everyone. I wish you all the best as you continue on your journey.

Hi

I joined this community a few weeks ago and have found this site full of wonderful and insightful weight lost journeys.

My sleeve is scheduled for the 3/27/2018 and I have started my 2 week liquid diet.

I am from a very small country town in New South Wales Australia and I find it interesting reading your journeys of how many steps and processes you have to go though before you are eligible for WLS. I like the education you seem to receive along the way and how open people are to share their journey and experience,

Thank you in advance

Hi, completely new to this forum. I had my initial with the surgeon last week and now I'm going through the process to see all of the required doctors including the nutritionist which is scheduled for the end of the month. My insurance requires 4 months with the nutritionist which I kind of appreciate. Truthfully, there is so much info out there n my brain feels like it's going to explode. I'm not sure if I can do this, worried about the many possible complications, saggy skin, Hair loss etc that I keep reading about. Figured I'm not the only one unsure about it, so I came here. Hopefully I'm not alone.

oh no u are definitely not alone, lol,i am worrying about all those things too but getting healthy & feeling good is the most important.hair will grow back,u can hide some sagging skin or eventually do something about it if it bothers u that bad.lord knows how well we try to hide those extra lbs & this will b a lot less visible & a lot easier.

Hi, I'm new here. My name is Becca and I'm from Texas. I'm 2 steps away from submitting to insurance (psych evaluation and 3 classes). I should be able to submit paperwork April 3rd. If approved I want to wait until June for surgery. I work at a school so I wouldn't need time off and I could adjust over the summer. So that's me! Oh and I'm 35, been married 17 years and have 2 kids.

Beautiful meeting you Miss Becca. Hope you'll hang around with us for a long long time. I hope I'm finally on a faster track than you for several, reasons, my path to surgery has been bumpy and tortured but I will make it there. How soon? Could be May, June or even July, but by then my last nerve will have snapped. Sprong!! Yeah. I have a strange sense of humor, comes from joking when I could be crying. And late at night I do weep in frustration.

Good afternoon!

I just joined up yesterday, but am in the beginning process of pre-op. I have my my first meeting with the psych and nutritionist down, but won't meet with the surgeon until April 12. Not going to lie, patience has never been a virtue of mine! However I've already implemented the nutritionist's recommendation (I tend to NOT eat because of my job where I am always rushing around) and then end up eating only dinner and nighttime Snacks. I've spent the past 2 weeks actively eating 5 healthy meals a day (3meals 2 snacks) and boy is that difficult.

However I am super excited about the next steps, and can't wait to get my life back on track! Anyone else in MA by chance?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
