Yes I can't eat Chinese food! Too much MSG...I can eat it but very little cause I get full quickly. Not worth the money.

1 - MSG is not harmful.

2 - i don’t think the egg roll is what’s making you feel ill a day later. if you’re going to react negatively to something bc of your new anatomy, it’ll happen pretty immediately.

its more likely you’re getting a stomach bug that’s going around. or maybe there was some sort of spoiled food issue. but i’d bank on the former....

Chinese food is our Tuesday go to. I'm only 2 months out from GS, and I took one bite of wonton broth only, and realized it had a lovely oily sheen; I would imagine the egg roll was also oily. I react very strongly to "too much" of any kind of oil.

When we eat Chinese, I get the steamed seafood & veg, with no sauce & put the rice up for my husband on another day. I've had chicken Egg Foo Yung, and "sliced" off all the fried part, leaving the eggs, vegs & chicken. No sauce, no rice.

Let me add we do take out, I'm not being crazy in public (yet).

I had it a month ago with no issues and few times before that... Nothing happened. Then again, I guess it depends on the quantity that you're eating and what you're eating. I always buy chicken Curry and eat so little of it that I have left overs for days. I don't get anything that's fried or have breading all over it. The only thing I really crave is curry when I order take out anyway. 🙂

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
