Anyone been to Good Samaratin Hospital in San Jose?

Recommended Posts

I was banded last week, 10/23/07, by Dr McKeen at Good Samaritan in San Jose. I was very well cared for by every member of the staff that I met. They do a lot of these surgeries and are very supportive and skilled. I really can't say enough good things about everyone from the admitting clerk to the anesthesiologist and the pre-op/recovery nurses.

Good Sam was selected as a bariatric "center of excellence" by Blue Cross, whcih had a lot to do with my decision to have surgery there. But after I started looking into my choices, I became really encouraged by all the extras they offer for ongoing support (free support groups, classes, forums, etc.)

Good luck!

Thank you for letting me know how things went for you at Good Samaritan Hospital. You put my mind to rest and I can now go there feeling a whole lot more comfortable about what to expect. What a relief.

I too was banded by Dr. McKeen at Good Samaritan Hospital. The care was excellent as well as Dr. McKeen. It is also nice to have the support group there. Good luck.

I can say is put your fears to rest!!! I was very frightened as well, but was immediatly put at ease by the entire staff!!! I was so well taken care of by Dr Mckeen, and was also paired with a wonderful

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
