Julie: You look fantastic! How do you feel about the scars on your underarms? I'm thinking about getting this procedure also, but I'm not sure if the scars will bug me more than the arms flapping!

No, I live in Miami Beach, but I spend a lot of time in NYC and am thinking about moving there soon. I haven't been up in a few months, but I can't wait to hit all the shops on my next trip. We have Loehman's here and I practically live there (especially now that I'm starting to fit into 14's!!).

I will definitely join you on the Barney's trip when I'm at goal weight.

Lucy who is your doctor in Miami? I was banded with Dr Fielding at NYU but I'm a snowbird living in Boynton Beach half a year. I could use a doctor when I'm in Florida.

thanks

Spunky

Dear Julie;

You are such a generous person to let us all in on your PS journey.

The pictures are worth a 1000 words... so I won't trouble you with mine.

Congrats and best of luck with the Breast surg.

Honestly, Karey, I love the arms more than anything. I really thought the scar would bother me and I almost didn't have it done -- my Dad really talked me into it. I felt my arms weren't THAT bad, all things considered. And, bad as they were, I could have lived with them the way they were. I wasn't that self conscious before. Well, at least I wasn't until I got my marathon photos back where I was sleeveless and running and my arms literally had WAVES of skin on them, in motion. That freaked me out a bit.

Anyway, I'm so glad I had them done. The scar is kind of cool, almost, and where it's placed I almost never see it. You really have to try to angle your arm just right -- it kind of falls in a shadow. I would wear a sleeveless dress with no hesitation. I'd have to hold my arm in an awkward position for anyone to really see it, and even if they did, it's not so bad. I can tell (knock on wood) that when it flattens out in a few months, it's going to be no big deal at all. I guess I'm warming up to scars in general, which is good since I'm going to have so many of them!

Well, I think I'm going to LOW CARB for a week (or until my surgery on the 20th) and see if I can get to "goal" -- goal being the "normal" BMI of 136 that the charts say. It's almost become a game for me. I'm bouncing between 142.8 and 143.2. I've never low carbed before, but I don't care if it's Water weight or real weight -- I just want to see the numbers go down 6 lbs. I can't believe I'm SIX POUNDS from goal!

Julie: Thanks for the input on the scar thing. I think I might proceed with it too. I think it really helps to change up your diet. It makes your body wake up. I think are bodies adjust when we do the same things, even if there good or lo-cal things. I bet you'll make you're goal! Good luck!

Went out tonight.

Never thought I'd have thighs that could pull off this style dress....

Dad said the magic number is 36 -- whatever the blood test is, we want the result to be 36 or above to be able to go forward with the surgery a week from Thurs. Come on, 36!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
