OK, so I have just been leerking on this board for quite awhile, but I have been following your PS. Julie, you are so beautiful! I am so jealuous of your progress and PS. I want that so bad. I've been banded since August and have lost 52 pounds - which I think is great, but my belly - oh my!!!!! I look at all of these before and after pictures and think "wonder what that would be like?" Anyhow, I'm so happy for you and you are truly an inspiration.

Julie - all I can say is WOW! I had never seen your before pic. You have accomplished so much that I am just amazed. You look like all those thin people I used to be so jealous of. You are simply beautiful :scared:

Truly I believe you have given so many of us hope that we too can accomplish great things!!

Thank you!

Julie,

Gosh. Your before and after photos are sooo inspirational!!! (as are Chickies and Ghosts). Thanks so much for sharing. Also, I am awed by your marathon time. That is a fabulous acheivement in a very short period of time. I walked the Portland Marathon in 2005 at 265 pounds and it took me 9 hours. Your story makes me dream of doing it again with much better results! Thanks so much.

I have one question, do you ever run into people from your past and they dont recoginize you?

All the time. When I moved to NYC 6 years ago, I was about 280. So none of the friends and acquaintances I've made here know me as a thin person. Literally any time I run into someone I haven't seen in a year, I tell them who I am first to avoid the awkwardness.

That part I'm ok with. The weirder part is when someone who has known me thinner doesn't recognize me. I went to my cousin's wedding in July and my uncle, who has known me since I was like 5, didn't recognize me. As in, I was talking to him and 5 minutes into the conversation he figured out who I was (he'd been playing along nicely -- I had no idea he didn't recognize me). That wasn't a good moment for me. I don't like the thought that I'm so different that family doesn't recognize me.

Anyway, it's just part of the process I guess.

Hey, today's the 20th! A month from today is my LAST LAST LAST surgery (inner thighs, mons and boobs)!

Julie you look incredible. I can only imagine what you feel like on the inside (although that beautiful smile may be some indication!).

May I ask about the incision for the outer thigh lift? Does it join the TT line and how far back around does it go?

May I ask about the incision for the outer thigh lift? Does it join the TT line and how far back around does it go?

It's a continuation of the TT scar and goes circumferential around my waist (upper hips really). It's a perfect circle but for in the very back where it dips into a v between my "cheeks." I haven't seen that part myself. Maybe Thurs. when the stitches come out!

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Attached is a recent pic -- it occurred to me you all might not know what I look like clothed -- haha!

I just can't believe the difference in your before and after pics. Absolutely amazing! You look so fantastic that I don't think anyone meeting you now would ever believe that you had a weight problem in the past. You're very petite now - just the way I hope to be in another few months. And you have the kind of smile that lights up a room. You are very, very beautiful.

Julie, I can only second what everyone else is saying. I am so happy for you. Your willingness to share the good, the bad, and the ugly with all of us is so amazingly generous. You educate, motivate and inspire us all and we love you for it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
