Im still on my first week after surgery but I have always had a problem with eating the same thing over and over again. I was wondering if any of you have any recipes or anything to help mix things up my diet right now is basically Protein Shake Water more water vegetable broth and Protein shake. I have multiple flavors of shakes and but I wanted to know if I could any any other types of Soups or something I'm tired of what I have been having and I have a tendency to not eat anything since I am tired of what I have and I know that is so bad!! Any tips would help!!!

The boredom is real, also my interest in food was kind of just blah at that point. I cooked vegetables (mushrooms, celery, carrots, peas etc) and garlic in my chicken or beef Bone Broth and threw in a tablespoon of mild marinara - strained the veggies out and sipped away - such a nice change from plain broth. It worked for me. I could barely tolerate thick sweet shakes after surgery so I also switched to ready-made Isopure punch/ blue raspberry clear Protein - it is tart and mixed half and half with a glass of crystal light was easier than sweet.

They have this chicken NOODLE Soup with added Protein. It is really good too. I know BariatricPal Store carries it. I believe it has 15Grams of protein in a serving. They have other Soups too. I just stuck to the Chicken. I used it right after my RNY. That will kind of break it up. BTW I didn't eat the noodles in it. But it really doesn't have many. There is a recipe made with ricotta cheese and Marinaria sauce. I think it was on Pintrest. I'm not sure, but I will try to find my copy. My hubby liked it but not me. I don't care for Ricotta much.

I was told the first week I could have anything that passed through a strainer. So I went nuts at the Soup aisle and got all the lower fat Soups I could find (low fat, low carb, and low sugar). I even got chili and some spicy chicken soups. I even got the spicy turkey chili at panera, and the chick-fil-a spicy chicken tortilla soup. What was better is that when I moved to mushy foods I was told that all foods were open, but the texture had to be that of applesauce or smoother. Basically anything that you can eat without having to chew. My surgeon told me, if I am having any cravings - if I am willing to throw it in a blender - go for it. I told him I have a Vitamix, so in theory, I could liquify my iPhone and eat it - he chuckled and agreed. :D Those same soups and more are now open to me, as well as yogurt. If they have chunks, they go in the Vitamix and all is good. I still can only handle 2-3oz at a time, but at least I have some variety. I feel your pain, but that timeline is short in the grand scheme of things. Power thru it. The more you stick to the liquids and amounts - the faster you will heal. Make sure you get those Proteins and waters at the minimal amounts at least. If you slack on those, you might get stuck in liquid only diet purgatory another week!

My PA told me the same thing about the blender...let me say this. Be careful of spicy things: Soups etc. it can hurt your virgin tummy. Now back to my PA and telling me that anything I can blend I can eat!! I had my RNY in the summer of 2015. fruit has always been one of my things that I love. So here I am thinking watermelon is super soft, I won't have to put it thru the blender!! YIKES!!! I chewed it like crazy super mushy. Let e say this...I had the back door trots so bad and the acid in the watermelon burned my butt so bad!! So be aware. Don't think it is ok!! Believe me!! Take care!!

Yeah, I was thinking along the same lines with the spicy - believe me. I have done all of it in moderation and 2oz or less each time. I do not do more than one of those foods a day, just to make sure I am tolerating them. I have been sticking to no more than 3-4 mushy foods a day (one at a time).

I have been avoiding fruits due to the natural sugars in them. I had no idea about the acid in watermelon, good to know!

I got Soups from Panera, strained them, then added unflavored Protein powder. Definitely broke up the monotony.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
