multivitamin that won't make me gag?

Recommended Posts

2 days post op and i started Bariatric Advantage mixed berry Vitamin and I thought it was a little better this morning but same reaction a min later. Mouth watering and trying hard not to throw up. Did anyone else have this issue with Bariatric Advantage and does it go away?

What brands do you like? Need an alternative stat.

Hi Laney. I don't know if I have much to offer you, as my surgery was 11/29 but my bariatric RN said to wait till Monday to introduce the chewable vitamins. She said one a day for a couple of days then increase as tolerated. She did say break it up in your Protein Shakes. Maybe that will help? Hope you feel good today. I've been told every day is a little better than the last!🎉

I had the same problem, so I switched from Bariatric Advantage to a Centrum chewable. No more nausea when I take it.

Are you taking the melt in your mouth form or the chewable? I’ve taken the chewable since my surgery and I love them! They taste like candy/starbursts to me. Good luck!

I have always had problems taking Vitamins even before my surgery. I take two Flinstones every morning and can tolerate them well.

I would recommend asking your surgeon about Flintstones -- my surgeon says "no". There are liquid options available.

I'm doing gummies. I know they're not recommended, but I can stomach them so that's a win in my book.

I had lots of problems with Vitamins. I am now using Centrum liquid. Don't care for the taste but it doesn't make me nauseous.

We recently introduced an awesome line of Protein + Multivitamin shakes called BariatricPal Protein One which should allow you to get your protein and Vitamins at the same time! No more gagging on chewable vitamins or pills!!

I really like the flintstones complete chewable vitamins. They have all the stuff my surgeon recommended in a multivitamin (but I am getting extra B12 and calcium citrate separately) and are cheaper than Centrum chewables. And they come in fun shapes and flavors :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
