There was a "capsule" of stomach tissue that had formed around the band that my surgeon had to cut away, but other than that it was pretty easy to get out. My surgeon likes to wait about 6 months before converting to a sleeve, but I got her to schedule before the end of the year due to insurance reasons (scheduled for 12/7) so clearly the 6 month waiting period isn't mandatory. There are other surgeons in the same group who do both band removal and sleeve creation in one procedure. I can understand why you're scared; it's a big procedure, and a longer procedure than just a sleeve. Keep in mind that many people have it done and are successful, maybe that will help. Good luck!
