Electronic weight loss program recommendations?

Recommended Posts

I'm loving My Fitness Pal because it's low tech enough for me to understand and use it daily. I also like that once I got my food preferences loaded and hit Remember Meal, etc, I rarely have to input new foods or custom foods. So it's very quick and convenient to load a day of food and know that I'm fairly close to hitting macro goals. It sinks to other activity programs but I have an old iPhone so don't ask it to do that which is over my head anyway.

I have only used MyFitnessPal for both food logging and and weight tracking. Very interested to hear what other apps are available though.

I use My Fitness Pal to track my weight loss, exercise, Water intake, and to keep a food diary. I like that you can look at your days nutrition info to keep track of carbs, Protein, fat, etc. Its free to use with an option to upgrade to a premium service, but I find the free version to have everything I need.

I second Baritastic. You can track Vitamins, and it also syncs with my FitBit. You can also track weight and measurements if you want.

I personally do Weight Watchers, so I use their app. But I also often track on Sparkpeople, which I have been using and loving since 2004. I love that it has so many micronutrient options, because I love to track those (super important for us!).

Myfitnesspal. I'm old school. It tracks food. Graph shows your progress. Helps meet and see if you hit your calorie and macronutrient goals (protien etc) Tracks your exercise including syncing fitbit, map my run or map my walk...I'm sure their are more, It will graph for the week or month of meeting your calories and macros.

You can leave your food log open for others to see, Or keep it private ( I keep mine open.)

At the end of the day you submit and it tells you if everyday was like today you would weigh (calculates what you would weigh based on your food and exercise) gives me motivation to stay on track.

It also has a forum for many categories bariatrics, vegan, Keto, fitness weightlifting etc. you can friend and message.....They are amazing people that are motivated inspiring, and positive.

I also love Bariastic App. If you have trouble with chewing, there is a timer for 20 seconds. It covers it all!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
